Name: Diana F., Toledo, Ohio on Sep 22, 2007Comments: Cedar Fair, how can you let 119 years of history close Geauga Lake was NEVER operated under "Cedar Fair standards", in my opinion. The last Dodgems car I rode on had vinyl almost completely ripped off of the seat, and it was like this for weeks because I rode that same car 2-3 weeks before that! Under Cedar Fair standards, that would NEVER have been left like that, along with a broken down WolfBobs. The public is outraged with Cedar Fair, and with Dick Kinzel. Unhappy patrons: means we won't attend any CF parks!Flag

Cedar fair will regret this decision that they made and this decision will hurt the whole chain of cedar fair parks and they will suffer from this and will regret the way they handled Geauga Lake.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Sep 22, 2007Comments: Even if Geauga Lake does close as planned and this petition doesn't help, I want Cedar Fair to know that if the Big Dipper is not reconstructed in a nearby park, I will NEVER patronize its other parks again...including Cedar Point. Cedar Fair's actions are tantamount to burning a museum with Chinese and Egyptian relics. I am all for profit, but Cedar Fair was lazy and selfish and did not even try to turn the park around. Every year was another disappointment as no new things were ever planned for the park. Shame! The least Cedar Fair could have done was inform the public in August and reaped the inevitable profits that would have resulted from people eager to see the park in its last few days. The fact that patrons were not even privy to this is probably the worst action of all. Did Cedar Fair honestly think this would be okay I hope Dick Kinzel dies a rich, rich man knowing that he crushed the dreams and memories and caused the tears of thousands of people in one day.Flag

You can be sure I will be thinking very hard before I decide to step foot into a Cedar Fair park this upcoming season. Unreal, uncalled for closure that effects us all, whether we like it or not.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Sep 22, 2007Comments: I am shocked and saddened to hear of your recent announcement. Geauga Lake was for me a family tradition. I practically grew up at the park and have many fond memories of it. You just ripped those childhood memories away from me without so much as a warning. What a cowardly thing to do..making the announcement after the park was officially closed. We couldn't even at least see the park one more time. Why go to the trouble of building such a media frenzy about bringing the name back Why get our hopes up by making us believe that the park would be restored to it's previous splendor only to turn around and neglect it in the short amount of time that you owned it Why shut it down so quickly I hope that your new business venture (the waterpark that is) is a complete failure. I sincerely hope that all of Geauga Lake's former patrons choose to attend Kennywood from here on out. I should have expected this fate. I have never been a fan of Cedar Point or any of Cedar Fair's matters and never will be. Cedar Point will never be a replacement for Geauga Lake to me. I hope that all of your parks quickly meet the same fate that you just bestowed upon our beloved park. Shame on you!Flag

Name: Anonymous on Sep 22, 2007Comments: This is incredible. What a surprise that more Corporate America money hungry bastards come forth in their cowardly ways...being dishonest with 0 integrity and shut Geauga Lake Park down with no fair warning. You ripped many of us of childhood memories , and did not even allow us to see the park once more. We all know that Cedar Point is not a plce for Families. Geauga Lake was a "Family" Amusment Park. It was on a smaller scale that allowed so much more than just a plce for young teenage thrill-seekers and rides that only fit the 125 pound person, in an effort to cram as many people on a ride possible...only to make that much more money possible. This park does not accomodate families. I as well hope to see Cedar Fair's businesses go out just like they pulled this one. I urge everyone to give their patronage to Kennywood. (a nice Family smaller scale amusmant park). In fact, maybe we can get lucky and Kennywood buy up the Old Geauga Lake. Here's to wishing the worst on Cedar Fair and it's current and future business endeavors.Flag
