It has come to our attention that one of Walt Disney’s companies, ABC, aired a show, GCB (Good Christian Bitches, aka, Good Christian Bells). A show which portrays Christians in a disgustingly unfavorable manner. As individuals and as a community, we are shocked, disappointed and outraged that a company such as Disney would not only support, but endorse a show which diminishes and outright pokes fun and insults not only the Christian faith, but its Biblical foundation. Hypocrisy and dissension exist in every group whether religious or secular, that is called humanity. These views do not grant license to single out those few at the expense of the many who are trying to live the Christian life. Disney has always been the heart of America. Children and adults alike are enchanted and dazzled by Disney’s stand for families. Disney has been the type of company that parents have trusted without question or pause. As we explain this show to our children, they are sad and confused that the company which brought to them shows like The Little Mermaid, The Lion King and the like, would support a show which is the antithesis. Disney is supported by hundreds of millions of people throughout the world from various faiths, including Christianity. To single out one group and support some person’s “profit” by slamming a group’s beliefs is abominable and “unDisneylike”. We request that Disney and its affiliates and partners withdraw their endorsement of ABC’s GCB. In the United States, we have the privilege of celebrating multiculturalism, including, tolerance for religious beliefs, practices or the lack thereof. We may not agree with a group’s religious goals or practices, but we do not ridicule it on international television. One’s faith should be a neutral ground, a line of “do not cross”. We are not asking for anyone’s approval, just to desist from religious satirical tomfoolery. We believe that the Walt Disney Company will do the honorable thing and withdraw its support for ABC’s offensive show GCB or, for that matter, any show which depicts any religious faith in a negative and mocking manner. We pray that the Walt Disney Company will continue to be a leader, stand firm and say “NO” to ABC’s GCB.
