The reason for this petition is to get the gas and electric companies to simplify the charging system. The meters at the moment measure in a specific unit which is then converted into kilowatts/hour. To do this a very long winded complex formula is used which is very difficult to understand and takes up significant time to calculate a bill. As the meters already measure in units and the consumer is billed for number of units used. It would be far simpler to just charge by the unit. This would simplify the comparison between suppliers and calculation of bills. Example, if it is 8.234 pence per unit and the customer has used 100 units then bill equals £8.23. This change will make it easy to keep control of your spending. So I urge everyone to sign up.
