Martin Brennan | Even though I am not 18 years old yet, I still believe that in light of the needs and wants of the average age of gamer for more mature content in current generation video games, an R18+ rating should be introduced. Many games in the past have been toned down, in the case of games like Grand Theft Auto IV, or outright banned, like the recently refused classification Fallout 3, mainly because we do not have an appropriate rating to truly reflect the adult content present in these modern games. The sooner that the OFLC realizes that gaming is no longer centered on a younger audience, the better. Until then, we will continue to miss out on content in new games, or be denied the chance to even play them, all because of an outdated rating system and censorship of a rapidly developing entertainment medium and business.

Stephen Osborne | Australian's are soft. nearly every other country allows them.
Jodie Peters |
Alex Sonneveld | By failing to bring an R18+ rating, you're failing to provide a safer environment for younger gamers who fail to see the difference between G and MA15+.
Adam Murphy | This is just stupid. There are alot of games that, I know I, and the general public have been looking forward to that have been banned. And we all go on about game piracy, yet banning games that people want is only going to make that worse. And here is a suggestion. PUNNISH THE PARENTS, not us gamers for lil' kids getting "the wrong" ideas, they are the dumb fuckers that let there 4yr old play a game that you use your victims eyeballs as ammo for your slingshot of pwnage...

Christopher Clarke | Australia is still in the ratings dark ages. I mean, Fallout 3 being banned is just wrong. We Aussies won't even be able to legally play it. If people really want the games, they'll import them or pirate them. Not having an R18+ rating is encouraging piracy in a way, even. The sooner the OFLC comes to realise how stupid they're being, the better.
Colin | I am well and truly over 18, infact im 26, i can drive a car, drink myself into oblivion, and even VOTE..... yet i cannot play whatever video game i choose?? The video game industry has grown up, I suggest that your view on the video game industry should also 'grow up' or else we as a nation are going to miss out on our slice of the video game pie, and the associated profits and tax's. we live in a representative democracy.... well last time i checked anyways. This is generation X/Y/Z talking.... either your actions represent that which the people desire, ie R 18+ games, or we will vote in someone who will! thats right, you are forgetting that the majority of gamers are aged between 18 & 35, and we all VOTE! remember that the government works to keep the people happy, NOT the people have to be happy with whatever governments decides. Our vote is your livelihood, so your life is in our hands....

Marten Van Laar | I agree with this whole heartedly, I think there should be a R18 classification as we lose so much value in our games. It is up to parents to correctly teach their kids what is right and wrong. You dont see me running around shooting people in the street.
John Sullivan |
Brendan Evans | I'm signing this for Fallout 3.
Dave Koch | If your over 18 then you should be able to purchase R18 games.

mishka bedford | i fail to see why we cant have the same rating system as the one we currently use for movies...
Nick Ireland | LOL I R8 THINK r RATING SHOULD B IN AUS!
Sun |
Adam King |
Derek Rowe | Why dont we have an R rating already. Ive seen some pretty gory movies full of profane language and drug referances yet when we get something interactive the rules change. I also have children and theres no way I let them near games not suited to them yet even I know they will eventually be exposed to offensive material without my knowledge. Do us a favour and let adults make adult decisions.

Anonymous | While not yet old enough to myself purchase said games, I believe that the government has no right to blockade us from these games. People how can handle these things without being messed up should be allowed to. The policies are not free press, not democracy, and not something that should be.
Josh Coleman | Australia should have a R18+ rating for games, we are years behind the rest of the world
Matt Macdade | Games like Fallout 3 should be available to any adult. At least introduce an R rating to allow Australians to enjoy the game. Banning computer games is ridiclous. Don't like? Don't play it. Don't let your kids play it. Problem solved.
Sven Mueller | Do it! The average age of gamers these days is about 35. It's about time adults can play games they were originally made!
Cameron Chisholm |
xZ H1TM4N Zx | we want gore lollol
Dylan Cooper | Couldn't they at least sell them in adult book stores, with the rest of the stuff children aren't allowed to get their hands on.
Max Welsh | Although i am under age. I do feel sorry for over 18s and personally apologize for my age group bringing down the older people.
| 1484 | Ross Jenkins | I'm 24, and a registered Pharmacist. I regularly as part of my daily practice dispense Opiod analgesics to people, I also have a Drivers Licence, and like to drink Alcoholic beverages every now and then.. I even like to watch/read Pornographic materials...
... I see no reason why an Adult such as myself should be prevented from Purchasing and Playing a videogame that can only be classifed or rated as being "Adults Only". I would welcome this move happily... just as I welcome the idea that many cinemas now ask for some form of ID for any unaccompanied minor going into and MA 15+ Rated film... it's a matter of appropriateness and common sense. |
Michael Farcas | I'm coming into the age of 18 and it's about time to change the law to allow the over 18's to play these games and enjoy themselves.
Jonathan Bauer |
John | Not allowing legal adults access to adult mediums is an insult and basically sends the message that we Australians need to be coddled.

Clayton Lema | Its time we as a nation grow up! Its our right to freedom and if we freely choose to play a violent or sexually explicit game, then we should be able to. As long as i am not affecting on any other person i should do as i see fit.
Paul | We have the worst censorship in the world!
