Wesley J Harris | It is ridiculous that I cannot legally purchase a game deemed too mature for children at the age of 29. Get the ratings right most game players are 18+ are intelligent and have the ability to make decisions for themselves.

Andrew Allen | I strongly resent that the choice about what I play is being made for me seemingly based on the fact that some parents can't be bothered to check what their children are playing. This not only insults my intelligence but also calls into question my parenting ability.

Krister Monsvik | That there is no 18+ classification for games yet is horribly backward, all other entertainment have it already.
Tom Heath | I've heard that one of the arguments as to why we don't have R18+ games is because that people under the age of 18 would end up getting access to them and seeing content that is too adult for them. I wouldn't say getting your hands on an R18+ game is no harder then getting an R18+ movie and yet we still have them in Australia.

Stephen Beckett | I understand the protection of children, I really do, but if movies which are unsuitable for
Geoffrey Armstrong | The fact that we don't have an R18+ rating is ridiculous(sp?). The OFLC needs to realise that Australia is not exempt from the flow of time and the year is actually 2008, not 1960. If the OFLC (being a government agency) fears change, how can we trust the government to keep up with the rest of the world. It's time for the Aussie government to prove it's going to listen to the people!

Elliot Ryan | It's ridiculous. What kinda backwater country is this?
Rupert O'Reilly | The Government should stop pretending they want to 'protect' the children, If your son/daughter is in a games shop and points to an M rated game, MA rated or (hopefully in the future) a R rated game and you say ok and let him/her play it when he/her is only 10 or 12 then it's only you that's to blame, not the government, not the game developers or anyone else, but yourself. When radio was the thing in Australia, they said that they wouldn't use the FM band for music because no Australian would ever want it. Well look at it now, All these radio stations on the FM band.

David Sebestyen | We have an 'R' classification for movies, dvds and other forms of entertainment - therefore a 'R' classification is needed for games. It can be managed bu identification being required at point of purcjhase.....easy.

Anonymous | i think while the ag argues some good points as to why we shouldnt have a r18+ classification for games they are not enough to ignore the benefits and refuse a r18+ classfication. I think its hypocritical to have such a rating for other media such as movies and music and not have it for games. it just does not make any sense since all types of media can be viewed/listened to in the privacy of our own home.
Nicole T | Australia, grow up!
Nathan Bottoms |
Michael Hazilias | I believe an R18+ classification for games in Australia is long overdue, and needs to be implemented before more confidence in the rating system is lost.
Anonymous |
James Murchison | If the R18+ rating is introduced and policed as closely as tobacco and alcohol is, then the gaming youth of Australia won't be subjected to inappropriate content. Right now, any kid can walk into Big W and pick up GTA San Andreas. MA15+ isn't policed so it doesn't even matter right now.
Brendan Tregear |
| 1195 | Will Ingles | Australian adults should have the right to R rated games if they want. I know we have to protect the kids, but ultimately its up to the parents to control their children and other people should not be punished for the lack of interest that some parents take in their kids lives.
Don't give us that crap about R rated games not being able to be regulated well because if that was the case kids would be able to get their hands on R-rated movies.
