Joshua PlunkettIt should be my choice to make and the parents responsibility to care what theyre children are doing.
Michael MeredithIt is not the governments job to protect the kiddies from this content. It is the parents and caregivers that have this responsibility. The government can not and should not be the deciding force on what comes into the household. This hinders economic growth and trade.

AnonymousAustralia is absolutely fail for not having R ratings standard.
Joshua Taylor
Joshua GangerCreate the R 18 rating so games stop getting rediculously banned.
Michael BottroffI feel that living in the democracy we currently do, I as an adult should have the right to choose what I do and do not want to play. Not allowing an R18+ classification will just lead to increased video game piracy and importing from overseas suppliers. An R18+ classification is needed, and it is what WE (the people who play the games) want.

Angus ManganBring on the R 18 rating, we shouldn't have to put up with games being banned!
AnonymousIt's about time people realized that children are not the only people who play games. Catch up with social trends and allow people to decide what content they want to expose themselves to.

Robert KnightUnless people who play games are somehow different, or are from a different age group (NO!) to those who enjoy movies, music and magazines/books, there is no logical reason why games should not be entited to an R18+ rating like those other mediums. We adult gamers have just as much of a right to choose to enjoy adult content in our chosen medium as much people who enjoy those other things most.
Egon - Avid lover of gamesHey Kevin Rudd, and the good ol' Australian Government, can you please find some way to expunge that Atkinson guy from Adelaide or replace him with another good, new minister? It's coz he is really letting down all of you and us the public down...Best to get this over and done with, as it's really, really VITALLY IMPORTANT to have an R18+ rating for the Australians. Although I think it'd also be good to add an 21+ rating category for the very exclusive niche of games that are really, really sadistic in their approaches, such as Manhunt 1 & 2. It's just coz these games are really sadistic, that's all, unlike the ultra-violent games that could attract an 18+ rating classification, although the 21+ rating shouldn't mean a ban, lol, but just only for people aged 21 & over. Thanks for listening to me, women & gentlemen (60% of you on the frontbench, or something are female, aren't youse? Lol), folks.

Myles PetersonThe lack of an R (or X) rating for games is governed by pure prejudice. Literature and Films, comparable mediums, both have R (and X) classifications. Why are games singled out to be denied adult classifications? If the government sought to remove the adult classifications from literature or films there would be an out-cry and (correctly) accusations of government imposing severe restrictions on free-speech.
Dan RegiusIt's time an R rating was implemented, I'm sick of South Australia being an ignorant killjoy. I'm an adult and am more than capable of deciding for myself what is suitable.
Anthony LarmeLet games be treated as films and receive the full range of classifications!

RickyWhy should we be the only country without this rating? We are already behind in internet, why should we be behind in other aspects.
Daniel VisserBeing in the industry I agree that there should be mature class ratings for vide games in this country,

AnonymousAt the age of 31 I am more than capable of being able to choose what I watch, play or do. I do not require someone who isn't an avid gamer telling me that particular content is not suitable for the me or the overall Australian public. Let those who want it have it and the rest can choose to not have it.
Daniel GrbacIts about time we get R18+ games.. its insulting that an idiot like the SA Attorney-General can instill such old-fashioned and out of touch views on a rapidly changing society. Don't be surprised if you find yourself out of a job soon Mr Michael Atkinson, and once you have all this free time you can join all your pious friends in denouncing democray as we know it. God forbid, what next? Maybe this man wants to ban people from having sex?

Kevin McIntoshI work in the industry and see it as a fair balance to introduce the R rating. Without it, it's a restriction of trade and not something that government should be involved in censoring. It does mean that stores that sell games need to be more vigilant, but that needs to happen regardless of the rating and I would endorse that too.
