The Petition

Iarraimidne, saoránaigh de chuid na hÉireann a bhfuil ár n-ainm leis seo, ar ár dTaoiseach Brian Ó Comhain tacaíocht agus cosaint a thabhairt do ghluaiseacht na gColáistí Gaeilge trí Scéim na bhFoghlaimeoirí Gaeilge a chaomhnú.

We, the undersigned, citizens of the Irish Republic, call on our Taoiseach Brian Cowen to undertake to protect and support the future of Irish Colleges through the preservation of Scéim na bhFoghlaimeoirí Gaeilge.

Iarraimid é seo:

Ar mhaithe le tionscal na gColáistí Gaeilge ar dlúthchuid iad d’eacnamaíocht na Gaeltachta
Ar mhaithe leis an lucht lóistín nach féidir leis na Coláistí feidhmiú dá n-uireasa
Ar mhaithe leis na tuismitheoirí ar mian leo an Ghaeilge bheo a thabhairt dá gclann ar chúrsaí Gaeltachta ar phraghas réasúnta
Ar mhaithe le todhchaí na Gaeltachta mar phobal beo Gaeilge
Ar mhaithe le caomhnú thobar na teanga beo in Éirinn

We ask this:
In the interests of the Irish college industry that is a vital part of the Gaeltacht economy
In the interests of the host families without whom the Irish colleges cannot function
In the interest of all the service industries which depend on the Irish Colleges
In the interests of the students who enjoy and benefit from Gaeltacht courses
In the interests of the parents who want their children to experience Irish as a living language on courses which must remain affordable
In the interests of the survival of a viable Gaeltacht community
In the interests of preserving Irish as a living language in the Gaeltacht

This petition will be submitted to Taoiseach Brian Cowen along with a detailed statement from Comhchoiste Náisiúnta na gColáistí Samhraidh describing the potential impact of the loss of the scheme on the Gaeltacht economy. Please add your signature below to support the future of Irish Colleges in the Gaeltacht. Go raibh maith agat.
