I want it to be a top priority with the people I elect to represent me. My vote in the next election will be strongly influenced by the votes of the elected officials in this matter.Flag

Name: Chris Bussell on May 28, 2003State: SCCountry: USComments: This is a travesty. There is no way we (teachers) can be expected to "leave no child behind" when we aren't given the means to do so. I have had to stand by and watch some of my fellow teachers lose tehir jobs as positions are cut and class sizes double and wonder if I'll be next. People don't become teachers to get rich. They become teachers to make a difference in a child's life. You (legislators) are making that nearly impossible.Flag

Name: Shannon Bussell on May 28, 2003State: SCCountry: USComments: I find it hard to understand how South Carolinians are pouring millions of dollars into the "Education Lottery" and our public schools are in dire straits. I understand the desire to fund higher education but what is the point if we can't educate our children in grades k-12. And believe me, when you keep increasing class size and decreasing the budget we CAN'T educate these kids. I challenge our governor, lt. governor and any legislator to try and do this job for one day. I think you'd feel differently.Flag

Name: Floyd Stanley on May 29, 2003State: SCCountry: USComments: To have this small of an emphasis on education in this state is ludicrous. It corresponds with continually being placed at the BOTTOM of education in the US. The children left in the public school program deserve better if for no other reason than the fact that they've done nothing to deserve this poor quality of education.Flag

Name: Teresa Jenkins on May 29, 2003State: SCCountry: USComments: Our school district was operating on a bare bones budget as it was, and with two 12 million $ budget cuts, I don't understand how you expect public education to survive. With the no child left behind act in place and budgets cut drastically, how can you expect that education practices in SC continue on an upward trend. We are not even treading water now, we are going down for the third time.Flag
