Dear Neighbor and Concerned Citizen,

Delemar Highway from Legend Oaks to Ashley Ridge High School (SC 165) is grotesquely unsafe. It is far past time to fully fund and build this road. Our local state delegation has been very supportive and instrumental in helping. Dorchester County was awarded funds from the state infrastructure bank to build this road in 2012. The county placed the project out for bid last summer after completions of permitting and design, however the bids for construction all came back higher than what is currently allocated and the state needs to allocate additional funds to allow the county to place the project out for bid again quickly to get started.

We need to work constructively with the board of the South Carolina Infrastructure Bank, SCDOT, and our local delegation for getting this done. The county has even taken the new board chairman on this road in January to show the urgent need to get it fixed. Everyone is aware of the need. We need to let the decision makers in Columbia know with one strong and constructive voice that this road needs to be fully funded at the next meeting so this project can get started by this summer.
