Comments: I am a convicted felon. I am so excited to red that someone is up to the truth concerning our penal system. The system here in Texas dose not grant pardons are forgiveness. Once convicted always convicted. There should be a five year time limited.

Comments: My husband was convicted of one felony 10 years ago and he can not get work anywhere because of his felony conviction. He has had no more illegal violations or arrests since then. We have children and can not make ends meet unless he is able to get a job. I want this to come into play and I want this to work for all the other families that are in the same position. We need to teach people not to judge by what someone has done in the far past but to look at what they have acheived since then.

Comments: This should apply to all non-violent felons who have changed and "outgrew" their problems; in this way, these people can lead better lives and provide for their families.

Comments: Children should not be held at fault for the actions of their parents. Guess my question would be is there another underlying legal violation in use here - I believe that most laws deny benefits ONLY to the felons - not to their chldren or spouses. May be worth checking into.

Comments: I have never really seen a felony on your record overshadow the desire to change and succeed but that doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. I have always believed in the power of god to be that bridge between adversity and confusion. I pray that he make a way for those that truly desire to succeed and provide for there kids, do.

Comments: Eighteen years ago, when my son was 18, he used poor judgement and stole some clothing. He also got into a car with some minors, unaware that the car was stolen. He now has 2 non-violent felonies against him. He is a responsible law abiding citizen with no other crimes, a wonderful father and has had the same low paying job for 10 years. When he tried to get a better job with medical coverage, he was refused due to these childish mistakes made 18 years ago. This needs to be changed!!!!

Comments: The goal of these wicked law makers is to make money. Do not ever fool yourselves, and think that they really want to stop crime. Society wants to stop crime, law makers do not!!! They came up with the "felony" as a money making tactic. By keeping a past crime on your record, they know that you will no longer be able to get a decent job to take care of yourself and your family. Therefore there is a 95% chance that you will commit a criminal act to support yourself. Thus they get you back in the system, and they make money off you again. By housing all these inmates the system makes big money year after year!!! Remember this and never forget it--- law makers are out to make money by any means necessary, even if it means ruining families with these oppressive felony laws. May God Help All Of Us!!!!
