This is a Petition to Mr. Gormley to Completely over haul the current Motor taxation system which is completely unfair and biased.
We should pay our road tax through our fuel prices. A pay as you go system that ensures that everybody pays exactly the right amount of tax. Should a 70 year old pensioner who does 20 miles a week pay the same road tax as a 20 year old who does 20 miles per day??
The answer is NO!
This Taxation has many benefits including Zero Tax Evation, If you car is moving it is taxed. simple.
Sign this petition if you want to be treated fairly and pay as you go!

Some of the other benefits of the other benefits of the system are:
Thousands of euro will be saved in administration costs with no tax discs, renewal notices and payments to be issued.
Gardai will have more time to concentrate on enforcing actual traffic laws instead of essentially acting as "tax collectors", thereby making our roads safer.
Higher fuel costs will encourage more efficient use of motor vehicles and reward those driving fuel efficient and electric cars thus improving Irelands emmisions.
Visitors to the country are also taxed as are VRT dodgers. Another additional source of revenue.

Great idea!....Sticks with the Green theme too -
Bigger cars = More fuel consumption = Greater share of tax burden
Completely equitable and saves on Motor Tax Office / Department of the Environment overheads too
Removes the cost of enforcement and easily administered
Road users from outside Ireland pay for the use and consequent wear and tear on the roads
Spreads the cost over the course of usage too rather than lump sum payments putting pressure on people's finances.
