I want to get Fibre To The Home (FTTH) for the Hillside View complex and the surrounding areas or Robin Hills etc. At the moment we need 50 households in the area to show interest in the matter at which point the company offering the service will be able to meet with us to get this exciting technology into our homes.

The company interested in providing us with the service is called Cybersmart. Their Lightspeed FTTH product (http://www.lightspeed.co.za/Products.php) is what we are interested in. The offering starts at a "minimum" of 20Mbps and goes upp to 100Mbps. For comparison, normal ADSL comes in at 4 - 10Mbps. That is if you can get Telkom to give you a line in this area.

Cybersmart needs to lay down approximately 900m worth of cable to reach the Hillside View complex. They have said that they will then need a commitment of 50 households in the area to take up the 20Mbps service, for a 24 month contract. At this point it will become financially feasible for them to invest to get the line up to our area.
