Friends of Frank's Field - Opposing housing development behind Middle Road

The small field attached to number 166 Middle Road, Sholing is greatly valued by local residents as an attractive green space. It is also a valuable haven for wildlife.

Building houses on the land would increase traffic congestion, disrupt the wildlife corridor that links into the Miller’s Pond Local Nature Reserve and possibly obstruct drainage on the steep ground.

I oppose the building of any permanent structures on the site.

**UPDATE**

I would like to make it very clear that we are not petitioning against Frank's family. We have no quarrel with them personally. If you are a member of the family I would be very grateful if you can please make contact with me.

Discussion

  • Karen Read I totally support this petition. Building on this land and other properties in other roads adjacent would have a huge impact on not only the immediate area but surrounding roads, more traffic, more school places required where the schools do not have the capacity, wildlife - loss of habitats , pollution to the water course to name just a few. A previous proposal was rejected for several reasons so why would a new proposal be any different?

  • Sandy Raine Well looking at the comments so far I agree with them all! But going back to the traffic congestion i need to remind all that are local that we received a letter from the Highways Agency at the end of last year and they will be widening the pavements outside the Schools in Middle Rd. Well we know how bad it is at the moment to pass on that road in rush hour, it’s going to be complete gridlock in all directions. The junction of Middle Rd and South East Rd is an accident black spot already so more traffic would result in school children at more risk of accidents.
