AnonymousWe have better things to do with our tax payers dollars. I thought jail were to reform, not punish. She changed her ways.

Brandon CarsonThis is ludicrous - her original charges did not warrant the sentence she was handed. She did what any human being who is unfairly punished would do. Drop the charges and let her get on with her life.
AnonymousThis is a tragic case. The law is the law, granted, but a law that is enforced without consideration of circumstances and character is unconscionable.

Jake LimaFREE HER! she did nothing but good for 32 years it seems. let her be free.
Rick PetracichI think Susan doesn't pose a threat to anyone, shes been an outstanding mother and deserves to have this commuted. The president did that to a "Schooter Libby" whos crime was bad.But he seemed to get off. Also the Michigan prison system says that it cost 2 billion a year, at a cost of $31,000.00 to house a criminal and they are looking at ways of releasing some early. The thing is on one page you say that our prison system cant handle many more prisoner's and then you want to put Susan who's harmless in prison. To me it just doesnt make sense.
janis knechtIt's hard to believe that a state as financially ailing as Michigan is wasting money imprisoning someone who is already rehabilitated. Michigan resident & taxpayer
Micah GlennIsn't the correctional system supposed to be about rehabilitation, not punishment? This woman has clearly been rehabilitated by her time spent as a productive member of society. By letting her rot in prison a clear message is being sent - that the correctional system is not about corrections at all, but about mindless punishment.
AnonymousLet this woman go!!

John HinsbergNothing woould be gained by putting this woman in prison. It would devestate not only her but her family.

AnonymousShe has suffered enough just keeping the secret and worrying about them finding her, putting her in jail is insane. No room, and too long ago for a minor offense.
Carolyne RichardsonThis woman proves that rehabilitation can and will help convicted criminals. Without any assistance from officials, she turned her life around and became a model citizen. Please allow her to return to her family, where she rightfully belongs, instead of in the penial system.
Karin BlinnGrant Susan LeFevre clemency today.
John DillerGovernor Jennifer M. Granholm P.O. Box 30013 Lansing, Michigan 48909 Dear Governor Granholm: This is written in regards to Susan LeFevre. She pleaded guilty to drug trafficking and received a 10 to 20 year sentence. She said her behavior as a teenager when she was despondent over the death of her high school sweetheart in the Vietnam War was inexcusable. She was 19 when she was arrested with a friend during an undercover drug operation in 1974. In February 1976 she escaped and began an exceptional life of 32 years. She trained as a hospice worker and volunteer for political causes in California. She said she tried to live a model life to atone for her past mistakes. She was married and raised three children. Her lawyer said “By all indications she’s been a good wife and mother and a good community person, so we think that presents extraordinary circumstances and we think that calls for governors to respond in kind”. I believe that you should pardon her. What will be served by returning her to prison? Sincerely John C Diller Phone 586 739 4244 E mail jdiller107176MI@comcast.net 48603 Lakeview East Shelby Twp. 172 Jeremiah GowdyThe woman accomplished the rehabilitation that should be the goal of every prison, and considering how many *unworthy* persons get their white collar crimes pardoned, I believe Susan LeFevre deserves to have her sentence commuted and any other charges pardoned.
Terry WalkerPrison for Marie Walsh would serve nothing.
Mary Lou CaseDear Governor Granholm - Please favorably decide on the petition for commutation of sentence for Susan LeFevre (Marie Walsh). Returning her to Michigan and to prison can serve no possible good at this time. She is obviously rehabilitated, and a contributing member of society. It has been one of your highest goals to put Michigan back on its feet economically. The costs to return Susan LeFevre to finish her sentence cannot be justified. I believe in the rule of law, but I also believe that there are times that call for us to do what is right. Freeing Susan LeFevre is the right thing to do now.
AllenShe made a mistake when she was young and has lead an exemplary life since, hasn't she? Justice was unjust in this case and needs to be corrected. Probation. More than that is not deserved. Murderers have received less.
Barbara LetsomShe is a harmless woman who was with the wrong person one night. Please, do not use our prison space for an innocent woman who made a tragic mistake 30 some years ago.
AnonymousWhy punish someone after all these years? She is no longer a threat to society and most likely, she has been living all these years with the fear of being caught any day. I bet you her past has tormented her all this time. Why waste tax dollars on sending someone to prison when they are no longer a threat? C'MON!!! don't punish the whole family now....:)

Janice MortimerGood luck Susan.
Donna FerenczIt's obvious that she is completely rehabilitated. Isn't that what our prison system is supposed to try to do? Our state is almost broke financially. Why waste taxpayers' money imprisoning her? In light of the recent settlement to inmates at the prison they're sending her to for sexual abuse, I feel she'll be in real danger and the state has the opportunity to do the right thing by releasing her. The absolutely MOST that should be done is to give her a fine for a couple thousand dollars and probation for a year. This whole thing is ridiculous and a waste of time and money. Appears to me that she was a young, stupid person who "saw the light" and turned her life around. Our world worships drug-using professional athletes who side-step the law all the time. She deserves to be released immediately. Thank you.
adrian murilloFREE SUSAN !!!!
Christine F. ReidWhat possible good can come from incarcerating this woman, who is obviously rehabilitated. Please let her complete her sentence with community service and save our state thousands of dollars.

Nicole BeareThis is a case of a person that was given a long sentence for something small, there are murderers and rapists running the streets. Let her go! She hasn't done anything like this since and she has made a life without crime-that's what we want!
terry lannenIt's a waste of tax payers to imprison this woman.
Maryann Sawyer
Kathleen TibbitsIt will serve no purpose to place Susan LeFevre in jail for any period of time. She is rehabilitated and it would be useless for taxpayers dollars to support her in prison for the duration of her sentence. She is a mother and wife and belongs with her children now. At this point , it would be morally wrong to place her in a prison cell.
