| 101 | Terri Canns | I support Susan |
| 102 | Anonymous | I ask myself what is the purpose of prison? Is it not to rehabilitate criminal offenders and to deter them from committing crimes again, so that they may be released into society as better citizens? I mean there are many different types of programs offered to prisoners while they are incarcerated. As mentioned in the website for Michigan Department of Corrections it states “The purpose is to provide offenders with the opportunity to gain academic, social and work skills to become productive while in prison and when released. They want these prisoners to be productive members of society right? They are able to take college courses, learn 13 different trades in the programs, and get their GED and so on. The tax dollars of every American are put into the system to keep prisoners (criminals incarcerated). The main purpose to rehabilitate.
Now I come to this Mrs. Susan LaFevre at 19 she made a mistake, maybe she was a wild teen experimenting with drugs, maybe even dealing drugs. It doesn’t make it right but it seems pretty outrageous to have been given a 20 year sentence for this type of crime. So now it’s been over 30 years and Mrs. LaFevre wasn’t out dealing drugs becoming a Kingpin or whatever. She married had children was a mother a wife. She did charitable things, was a hospice nurse. All while being a fugitive. Yes this was a crime but, she was out in society as a good citizen. The whole purpose of the department of corrections right? They want to incarcerate criminal and make them productive members of society. So what is the purpose of sending her back to prison? Some may say she needs to serve her sentence for what? This would be a waste a tax dollars. She is already a good member to her community to society she wasn’t’ out committing crimes. I say give her probation if that. That is my believe. |
| 103 | William Placek | Marie's sentence needs to be commuted! Putting her back in prison will serve no purpose. The 1 year she spent in prison has taught her that the life she had was definately not the life she wanted, The past 32 years have proven that. Putting her back in prison will serve no purpose except to destroy a wonderful, thoughtful and caring person and family! I have also written a letter to the Governor Granholm and the next one will be to Governor Schwarzenegger. |
| 104 | Mitch Belter | I'd rather see my tax dollars utilized in a different manner.... eliminating individuals who are a THREAT to our society. Susan, from what I can see, is a productive person in our society, paying taxes. |
| 105 | Cindy Rhodes | |
| 106 | Mike Rhodes Sr. | I feel this is a waste of tax payers money. She made a mistake when she was young as do many of us. she since has proven to society to be a model citizen. Please free Susan!! |
| 107 | Anonymous | I think she is a living proof that people do change....that is suposed to be the pupose of jail...so why send her back? Maybe she should do some comunity service. That would be much better than have her locked up. She was 19, come on, we are stupid and crazy at that age. |
| 108 | marcelo lima | she is a great woman |
| 109 | Bill Hofman | Imprisonment does absolutely no good. She should be granted clemency based on the life she has lived since the incident. We have known her for 10 years as a neighbor and friend and know that breaking up her family and sending her to prison would be even a greater crime. |
| 110 | Anonymous | I live in Philadelphia. We have just experienced another tragic murder of one of our policemen by a bank robber weilding an automatic weapon. One of the murderers is still at large. THESE are the criminals, the fugitives that need serious prison time and to be taken out of our society.
Susan LeFevre poses no threat. She has proven herself to be a law abiding citizen moreover her family counts on her, her community and those she has served count on her.
Please let this individual get back to her home, her family and life. |
| 111 | Anonymous | Marie is a great person & has a wonderful family. I don't believe sending her back to prison will accomplish anything except to destroy the life she has built for herself & family over the last 32 years. |

| 113 | Sean Devlin | This has to be the most rediculous thing I've ever heard of. Clearly the woman is reformed. Clearly it would be a waste of money to incarcerate her. I honestly think anyone in her position, would feel the same way. Most of the people crying for her to be sent back to prison would feel very differently if it was their mother, sister, or wife in a similar position. If there can be a statute of limitations on theft, drug trafficking, and rape, how can they re-incarcerate this woman after 32 years?!?!?!?! |
| 114 | Joe Saldana | I don't know much about this case other than that she made a little mistake so so long ago and has been an outstanding citizen since. The state of Michigan and the taxpayers money should really be put to use in a more productive manner. Thank you for your time and consideration. |
| 115 | Lauren Salemi | please free Susan. |
| 116 | Linda McLean | |
| 117 | Pat smola | The State of Michigan must do the right thing and that is FREE SUSAN LEFEVRE |
| 118 | Anna Patterson | I think tax payers have much better things to spend our hard earned dollar on! We can't even keep child molesters out of our schools! Or bring our troops home. This woman poses no threat to society, she is an example of learning from mistakes and growing into a better person because of it. What good could possibly come out of putting her in jail? I can't think of 1 thing. Listen to the people Governor, if this woman should pay any debt to society it would be to help w/ drug prevention in community service so others can learn that they can over come drugs and be a productive citizen like the example she has set. There are much better ways than taking this woman from her children and community.
Sincerely,
Anna Patterson |
| 119 | Roman Arora | I do not believe this woman deserves to go to prison for a drug problem she had in her teen years. Less a sentence of 10 to 20 years, which would have destroyed her youth life and for which I can imagine she decided to escape. She has also lived 32 years without posing any serious threat to society, please commute her. |

| 127 | anna | She is victimized by the corrupt system. Let her free! |
| 128 | Kevin Escobar | We live in a progressive world, laws should be adapted accordingly. |

| 130 | Annetta Ribken | I protest this use of my tax money. Set her free -- she's paid more than the price warranted for her offense. |
| 131 | Anonymous | pardon susan lefevre |
| 132 | ankur sharma | I think this is unfair. For one mistake you cant take someone's whole life . |
| 133 | Kyle | |
| 134 | Anonymous | Governor Granholm,
Please commute Susan LeFevre's remaining sentence. Use the prison space for real criminals and save the taxpayers' money. |
| 135 | Bruce Wedding | I saw this on TV and it is beyond ridiculous. When did we lose all common sense?
Leave this woman alone. |
| 136 | park1st | |
| 137 | Amy Leyenaar | Please set her free---there is no good in putting her in prison at all. |
| 138 | anna | free her! This is insane! |
| 139 | Jon | It's too bad Marie/Susan didn't embezzle a lot of money or spy on the Democrats and do so via felonious acts because if she did any of this whatever sentence and/or prison time she got would have been Pardoned bu our Bumbling Prez "W". I know he won't do it because Susan/Marie isn't a crook and isn't a "Right Hand (Wo)Man of Prez Bush but if she was he'd Pardon her - so maybe Prez Bush will do ONE good thing in office and Pardon her. And then Pigs will fly but we can hope |
| 140 | mike | release her |
| 141 | Anonymous | A family has rehabilitated her better than any prison could have, don't ruin that. |
| 142 | Anonymous | |
| 143 | Eric Lindauer | It is absurd to destroy a family over such a petty crime so many years ago. Free Susan LeFevre. |
| 144 | Mike Poynter | Let her and her family be. She is 52 not the 19 year old that committed the crime. Let her be free. |
| 145 | William Knowles | There is no justice here, only law enforcement. Let her go. |

| 148 | Anonymous | deserves her second chance |
| 149 | Tyler | This lady is a loving wife and a devoted mother. The benefits to society of freeing her far outweighs any potential benefit to putting her back in prison. Sentence her to 10,000 hours of community service or something and be done with it. |
