Name: Jenni Robinson on Jun 25, 2009Comments: Steve and his family were really friendly and welcoming to me when I became a new member of St Georges last year. I am deeply concerned about the treatment they are receiving in the detention facilities and the detremental effect this will be having them & on their children. The Umoru family are currently being denied their basic human rights with regards to their: right to liberty, right to privacy, right not to be subjected to inhumane treatment, and finally, with respect to their attempted deportation before their trial comes before the High Court, right to a fair trial.Flag

Name: Gloria Mayne on Jun 25, 2009Comments: This family have been through so much torment, the Devine will need help and love if he is to get over the shocking things that they have experienced. Juliette and Steve are kind and loving Parents who are just trying to protect there children, as any one of us would. It is time to put a stop to the inhuman treatment of this familly and let them return home to people who love them and care about them and who will willingley support them. The situation they they ran away from in Nigera must have been Horrendous and then our juditial system treats them like this. I pray that they will not be deported, I pray that they will be allowed to stay here permanently. I pray that those in athority will see the injustice in this caseFlag

Name: Amina Evans on Jun 25, 2009Comments: International law states that anyone has the right to apply for asylum in another country if they have a well-founded fear of being persecuted by reason of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion. So where can they get help if the authorities (or their lackeys) in that country persecute them for existing Guards in the detention centres need to learn that people in their >care< are human beings and deserve respect and kindness. Let this family stay in Britain - the children are in school and the family clearly have friends who want to help them. Be human - act humaneFlag

Name: TCAR Committee on Jun 25, 2009Comments: Tyneside Community for Refugees (TCAR) stands in solidarity with the Umoru family and we are disgusted at the brutal treatment they have received whilst in an immigration prison. Juliette and Steve have shown solidarity with their fellow detainees and in particular to Laureine, a TCAR member who has now been released, while they remain unjustly imprisoned with their two small children. Their bravery and dignity is a source of inspiration. We demand their immediate release and permission to return to their community. We condemn the racist and brutal assaults carried out by SERCO security staff on Wednesday 17th June. We condemn the system of administrative detention and deportation. Justice for immigrants! Freedom for Refugees! Together we are stronger!Flag
