Comments: I fully support Mark, I knew he very well and this kind of act was not in his nature, ther is not one doubt in my mind this was nothing more than self defence.

Comments: I love my brother dearly. I've been carrying around allot of guilt over the years because I feel I failed him as big brother. This is a terrible wrong that needs to be made right. No matter the circumstances, closing the door on his life has not and will not bring justice to anyone. He was a kid. Little Marky. Though no excuse, the punishment does not fit the crime. This predator is off the streets, yet he's still destroying lives. When will it end. My brother received life w/o parole because a law that went into effect made it mandatory. This is not justice, it's an injustice that needs to be made right. My little brother has been living in a place for 10 years I couldn't bear for not one day. It's time things were made right.

Comments: I believe this trial was a sham. We currently are trying to be harder on those that prey on our children but here is a youngman that stood up and defended himself and he is the one being punished. I am ashamed to say I live in a state that would do such a thing. How could the governor on one hand sign a new bill to keep those that prey on our children in parole longer or have them wear a gps device for monitoring but yet punish a child for defending himself from becoming a victim of a pedophile.

Comments: This is a discrace. It was self defense from what i can see. Mark had to defend himself at all costs to not be a victim. I would hope our court system would allow him to be free rather than be a victim twice. This animal was preying on our children and I believe Mark did what needed to be done for the welfare and safey of our children. These animals have more rights than we do, and our children are taking the blunt of it, It just isn't fair.

Comments: In some cases, adult sentences for minors are not unjust. But, had Mark been a female, Marcia: *She would probably not have been charged as severely - if at all; *They would have fully exposed Hepler's predator history; *People probably would have praised her "bravery" and "quick thinking" to survive that situation.

Comments: He has put in his time for a crime that he did commit as a CHILD. He has paid for his crime by giving up his childhood and his dreams, but he has also protected many other innocent children from a man that was out to hurt them. If God can forgive him and give him a chance, why can't the court

Comments: I think that this young man deserves freedom. We today need to bring more of these cases to the attention of our courts. To many of these people seem to be let out to just keep killing. What were the people watching this person waiting for. They could have at least tried to get the young children away from this awful person. Now he is dealing with a higher court than this country has. Maybe God will do justice and free Mark.

Comments: what Mark did was to protect himself, he should not be punished for that. If Mr. Hepler was alive he would do a little time in prison and do it all over again to these kids.Look he's been a pedophile for 25 years and was still on the street but if our justice system would treat pedophiles like murders he would be in prison for life instead of mark. The justice system needs to look at all sex offenders they are worst thing on this earth. But they are able to walk the streets and pick what kid they want.

Comments: I believe M. Berrios should not have spent a moment in jail for defending himself in the situation. He deserves to be free, and to live a long prosperous life. I thank him for having the courage to move on. If he had no previous problems with the law, would he still be in prison Every one should be on his side considering that pedophile can never hurt anyone else. God Bless You Mark & Good Luck !

Comments: It's a shame that children have to endure so much pain at a young age and cant enjoy their childhood because of some freak. You cant really blame Berrios, some people think differently than others. Some people handle situations better than others. You have to look at who's the real victim in this case. To everyone who thinks Berrios is guilty, what if it were you, or even worse, your child. Think about it.If it were mine i'd be in prison too.
