    Comments: Her enclosure is way too small for an animal of her size. She has spent far too many years of her life at the vVlley Zoo and deserves to spend the remainder of them in a sanctuary!

    Comments: As a former zoo keeper at the Los Angeles Zoo (where elephants have been poorly housed and where the Indian Elephant, Gita, died), I urge the Edmonton Valley Zoo to do what is best for Lucy. Please send her to a sanctuary where she can be in the company of other elephants and walk on natural soil. Her arthritis reflects a sedentary, unhealthy life spent standing and pacing on hard surfaces. Let Lucy "retire" to a more natural social and physical environment.

    Comments: Lucy should not be alone. She needs to be with other elephants in a much bigger space than the Valley Zoo can provide. Lucy could live the rest of her life happily and in better health in a sanctuary. Who would not want that for Lucy

    Comments: I believe that keeping animals in zoos is an old-fashioned and primitive idea. Animals should live in natural habitats and should not be used for entertainment purposes. Moving Lucy to a sanctuary will be a powerful step in helping all animals, and sending a good example for other cities.

    Comments: I think of the potential for the city Edmonton to lead the way with topics like compassion, human & animal rights, amongst other concepts. The existence of this Elephant at a publically funded institution, when there is so much scientific evidence & expert experience to show the cruelty & innapropriateness of this situation, is downright disgusting. I, for one, will never take my children to see this horrific violation of the rights of a sentient being.
