Gay activist Jamal Turkmani is taken by the immigration police. Heâs put in the deportation centre in Soesterberg, the Netherlands.
Jamal lived in the Netherlands for about 5 years. He has fled from his home country Lebanon in fear of becoming the victim of honour killing. When his parents found out that he was gay, his father threatened to kill him. Jamal is HIV positive.
The Dutch Immigration Service (IND) has decided that he could return to Lebanon. Jamal has appealed to this and now waits for the decision of the court of law. However, the immigration police has already taken him in.
