Harley J.Adobe might believe this a good decision for them, but this has to be the most appalling way to treat the many thousands of longstanding FreeHand users, and it's my guess they'll lose more goodwill than they'll gain over this decision, certainly in the short term. Just where is Adobe's courtesy? And why are they hanging on to the rights to software they refuse to develop? The least they can do is release it into the public domain for open source development. Illustrator is no contest in my opinion.

Wolfgang OldigsIf you've gotta earn money as a serious graphic designer, you've gotta use Freehand. If you wanna design the invitation cards for your grannies 80ies birthday, use Illustrator and Corel. Every software will find its customers.
AnonymousIf you plan to drop Freehand, please sell or make it Open Source. Thanks.
AnonymousI love it and I use it since years.
Gavin Le BurnI have used Freehand for years so this will be a sad blow to me.
Nelson PereiraLet Freehand alive! Set the power of Illustrator to a new Freehand, and you'll have the best vector program EVER!
Thomas Müller
Rolando M.I learned how to use computers with FreeHand. I learned the graphic design business with FreeHand. I learned using FreeHand since version 3. I learned that many people, including this petition designers, still don't capitalize FreeHand's middle "H". How are we supposed to keep Illustrator instead?
Anonymousmuch better than illustrator
Jake Teton-LandisI used this for eons before I even looked at illustrator, and after 3 years in Illustrator, I still long for Freehand. Bring it back!
Jacques KloppersFreehand is dead. Long live Freehand! Seriously, this app is without peer. When the migration guide (from Adobe) lists multiple references to things Illustrator can't do that Freehand can, then you know the world is a sadder and less efficient place. Adobe, let us know that you'll be incorporating Freehand's functionality into the next version of Illustrator ASAP.
Bronwynne HavengaSoftware giants only think of there own coffers and forget about the avergae joe!

Jarmo HaapasalmiNo new Freehand no new Mac, hope the G5 2x2 runs long...
AnonymousFreehand good, Illustrator not. Better, faster, more intuitive working with FreeHand. Let Illustrator die instead of Freehand!!!
Florian Sebaldto stop freehand is not innovative and user-friendly. you as a conzern have a accountibility! you could earn respect by thinking about solutions, you could lost users by stopping freehand.
AnonymousPlease keep FreeHand alive
Martin J. H.__Please__ Adobe __integrate__ all great and unique Freehand features into AI, then all people where happy!!
AdeleSAVE FREEHAND!
AnonymousHere a comment from this petition's initiator - me: ;-) I sent this petition's address to Adobe.com and asked them to kindly react to this. 2 times. No reply at all. Maybe some of you who signed this would like to tell them about this petition as well? That would be nice.
AnonymousYay! Long live Freehand!!
Mikael GormsenIt's a scandal! May Adobe burn in hell!
Yukari TsukoWhy waste time with Illustrator and InDesign when Freehand does both jobs in one package. if Adobe will not support it they must pass it on to some one who will
Anja Martin
Lorenzo CalonaciSave freehand!!! No FreeHand? STOP to buy ADOBE products!!!!!!!!! And new mac's to.
Caspar Mathiasplease keep freehand alive!
Edgar BrandauDO NOT KILL FREEHAND !!! It's the best vector drawing application ever built and ADOBE must show the due respect to all the Freehand fans all over the world. DO NOT MONOPOLIZE! DO NOT OVERRULE OUR FREEDOM OF CHOICE !!!
Laura NapoliFreehand must live!
David GoldPlease let freehand live, and develop Freehand 12 it is way better than AI, and I've been earning a living with it for 16 years.
Dean RoksandicI cannot work without Freehand. For the years I tried to switch to Illustrator but with no success, I always returned to FH. Adobe, I won't buy Illustrator because I have Freehand. I'll rather switch to alternative like Xara. It should be in Adobe's interest to keep so many customers satisfied.
LeslieKeep Freehand Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Zac PaulicIllustrator an Freehand is not the same. Freehand is still the most intuitive and faster vector program. Please continue developing or sell it (or make it Open Source). Freehand must not die!!!
John GallagherIt will always be my preferred drawing tool, Illustraitor doesn't come close.
Jules VickermanPLEASE don't let Freehand die, I work with it 35 hours a week at work and in my spare time too at home. It will be like losing part of me! I also teach it to my students as it really can't be beaten. Develop it or sell it but don't just let it sit there.
ArmadilloKill the bugs instead!

daveccKEEP FREEHAND ALIVE.

George Vlamakis Designsi switched from illustrator to freehand about 8 years ago because it let me draw faster and with less constraints of over technical bells and whistles that i rarely ever used. right now i'm running fh mx on and intel imac and its never run faster. i have no intention to switch back to illustrator because its too slow but would consider purchasing a copy if it could at least open fh files in their true form which is unfortunately not the case with cs3. long live freehand!!!
Chris HallSell FreeHand to some other company please.
AnonymousPlease, support freehand. I will buy another upgrade!!!
AnonymousI have been a primary user of FH for 10+ years... and will continue to design with it! I've got thousands of FH documents and I intend to make 1000's more! It's sad that corporate America is so bottom line driven, it can't see the real folks in driving seat... We designers, artist, photographers, architects...etc... have helped make ADOBE what it is today. And FH deserves a rebirth... Stand-Up People! They Must Listen! There is a market for this Incredible Software!
AnonymousI own my copy of Freehand. Upgrade it and I'll purchase it.
Michael MaierIllustrator CS 3 is a joke compared to Freehand. It needs 1 GB of space on your HD. What is it for?
PHDIllustrator is not an alternative... it just cannot replace FH as it stands
