Name: Shari Draayer on Nov 20, 2008Comments: Governor Corzine - if you are a civilized man with a conscience, never mind a heart, you will not allow Frankie, or any other resident to stay at New Lisbon and you will order an immediate investigation of the Division of Developmental Disabilities. This is an outrage and I am shocked frankly, that a man of your stature and intelligence would knowingly allow this to continue in New Jersey! Please do something about it today with the expediency that you would were it your child. Thank you.Flag

Name: Frank Tetto on Nov 20, 2008Comments: I had the leasure to meet Frankie Macias, I have no doubts if not for his being denied basic freedoms, Frankie could lead a good life in the community with adequate, flexible , and self directed support options. Institutions are a failed policy and should be relegated to the dust bin of history. In this time of financial crisis, it is a good time to consolidate and eventually close the developmental centers. It is also time to explore the elimination of the Department of Human Services Police. The Human Rights and Civil Rights of all who are institutionalized are violated daily. Having a police department in The Department of Human Services results in DHS policing itself at the expense and risks of al persons in state facilities. NJ can do better, NJ must join the states who have closed all their state funded developmental centers. It is time to support individual budgets and freedom for all NJ citizens. Name: Susan Anderson on Nov 20, 2008Comments: These types of treatments and living conditions are absolutely barbaric and a total disgrace to any human or animal and should be closed and fined immediately without any second thought. Shame on anyone who has anything to do with running this type of program and even more so to those of you taking so long to close it down. Please bless these poor souls and do the proper and humane thing now!Flag

Each one of us is an accident away from being thought of as in need of institutionalization. Free those held for economic fodder now in order to protect all of us.Flag
