Name: Michael Henry on Oct 27, 2002State: TXCountry: USComments: The rights of sportsmen across the country are threatened more every day by animal rights groups. Allowing closings of any fishing or hunting without sound justification brings us closer to the day when animal rights are regarded higher than human rights. We simply cannot allow this.Flag

These states have experienced massive increases in these species because of intellegent conservation policies.Flag

I would rather have commercial fishing banned. If we want fish we can go get them ourselves, as for the average consumer they can buy farm raised fish.Flag

Name: Barb Epperson on Nov 6, 2002State: IDCountry: USComments: recreational fishing should not be penalized for the decline in the ocean fishing. In large part this is due to the major commercial processing factories allowed on the ocean. I feel this is where the laws should be enacted to due away with the long lines that decimate all the fishes. Thanks, barbFlag

Name: Greg Thompson on Nov 8, 2002State: CACountry: USComments: The current proposition to restrict sportfishermen from fishing in the ocean is rediculous. We should first concern ourselves with other countries traveling across the oceans to our shores to fish, can, and send the fish back to there country without any interference from the US. I live in California, a New Jersey transplant and cannot understand why I even have to purchase a salt water license to fish in an ocean that does not belong to California. God put the fish in the ocean not California. The salt water licensing and soon to be restrictions on the ocean for sportfisherman is nothing more than another form of taxation. From the current Governor of California's inabilaty to balance the states budget. As far as I am concerned NO ONE will stop me from fishing in the ocean. With or without a license. I will see you in court!Flag
