Name: Travis Butler on Oct 6, 2012Comments: As a formerly satisfied customer, I have increasingly sensed the disconnect that FS has cultivated with their customers while talking to tech support at various times. I wish I could be surprised that bugs are still present from previous versions. The perceived notion with many of us individual customers is that, unless I'm a big business with many clients and thousands and thousands of dollars to sink into various Freedom Scientific products, our individual concerns and requests for bug fixes are petty at best, and should not be seriously considered. If this is not how Freedom Scientific wants to be perceived, I, and the rest of us who are signing, would humbly request that the company make a conscious and assertive effort to work with their end users to eradicate this perception. Though I haven't use rival commercial screenreaders, I have to say that I am more impressed with the level of customer service displayed towards the individual end user. The aloofness with which many of FS's representatives have displayed towards many individuals luckily doesn't translate to other companies. Of course this is not true for all persons, and I am truly grateful for, and congratulate those few FS tech support representatives who have bent over backwards to help as far as they have been able to. If nothing else, let this be a friendly reminder and request to the powers that be at Freedom Scientific that there are many in the blind and visually impaired community, along with friends who have already weighed in, who are concerned that their requests are going un-heard. Thank you for producing such great products in the past, and may they continue to be so, and get even better and more stable with each upgrade, however major or minor. With a closer relationship between the company and their users, no matter where they fall on the financial scale, I know this will become a reality. I sincerely hope that all will be able to work towards this type of goal, and that this egalitarianism will resound throughout the community to better the businesses and relationships between all companies and their users. Working on past and current bug fixes would be a fantastic start to this. thank you.Flag

Consider more careful requirements development, with traceability to prove that all requirements got implemented, as well as tested. To be fare, I recognize Microsoft's changes present a tremendous strain on development, and create a moving target.Flag

Name: William Sallander on Oct 6, 2012Comments: I feel that a better path of communication needs to be established between the user, tech support, developer and other entities of Freedom Scientific. It is my opinion that a piece of technology such as Jaws is very useful in our independence not to mention our obtaining employment. It is also my opinion that anything that impacts our performance on the job is detrimental to us in maintaining our positions in the work force and that when important issues are brought up to Freedom Scientific it should not be brushed off as just a third party software issue; better communication between the so called third party software publishers and Freedom Scientific needs to be brought in to play so that we as blind employees can maintain our performance in the work place. In brief, I’d like to see that both Jaws and Freedom Scientific work with us and not against us. After all, the word Jaws stands for Job Access With Speech; help us maintain that access.Flag

Name: Sandi on Oct 6, 2012Comments: I have used JAWS since Version 3.0 when it saved my job! Back then, when Ted Henter supervised its creation, and other products later mooshed into FS were done by people who cared (Deane Blazie and Jim Fruchterman), customer service was great. When they all went together I became an FS baby. But I have to tell you that I have stopped that now. I can't get things properly serviced, products don't work as advertised, and I've moved on to Humanware and Kurzweil, and stopped buying SMA's for JAWS. Fix the software, or lose many other purchasers like you've lost me. We're a small audience, but there are choices for every product you make!Flag

Name: Cindy Lou Ray on Oct 6, 2012Comments: Mine is not the latest version of JAWS, but for several versions, the computer has crashed and wanted to send error messages. That seems pointless. I have mostly switched to the MAC because the cost for screen reading software is less and because I don't have to reboot way too often, sometimes compromising files upon which I have worked. I feel the same as many others that a small upgrade fee that would just fix bugs would be wonderful; then further develoopment could come with something more perfect. At the very least, if there would be regular attention paid to known problems.Flag

Name: Timy on Oct 8, 2012Comments: Respected sir/ madam, iam using this software since 4 years back and I like this product very well till. But when iam using this product in windows 7, I could find some problems are: 1. it is not that much accessable with internet explorer 9. for example, if I will load any pages it won't read the status how much the page is loaded. 2. accessability problem with HD ADeck. as u know very well, the HD ADeck is the common sound driver of the every computers. but the bad luck is it is also not accessable with JAWS. I want to narrate one problem for understanding the correct layout. the common systems have 2 headphone jack in the friend pannel and back pannel isn't it?? But if we want to work with headphone in friend channel we should change it in to something like ac3 97 under HD ADeck. unfortunately, it is not atall accessable with our screen reader. So, hope this will solve in the future releases.Flag
