Name: Stephen Brooke on Nov 7, 2002State: NYCountry: CAComments: Having just finished the very objectively written book on this trial, I applaud Katie and Steve Northrop. Janus is incompetent and should be ashamed of himself. The criminal justice system's inherent vagaries will always far outweigh the sum total of a democratic society's efforts to ensure a defendant his or her right to a fair trial. From the single fact that someone of Ms. Monroe's character would become involved with a rogue such as the 'count', it's obvious to me that, for all her wonderful traits, she displays a certain tendency to fall under the spell of others. And so, the 'confession'. May she live happily, surrounded by her loved ones, for the rest of her years.Flag

Name: Elizabeth Hiles on Dec 2, 2002State: VACountry: USComments: I am sorry that Beverly Monroe was prosecuted for de la Burde's death. It was a tragic error on many fronts. I hope the judges and district attorneys are more circumspect in other cases. Damages have been extreme in this miscarriage of justice.Flag

Name: Sherry Martin on Dec 21, 2002State: VACountry: USComments: This is an atrocity, and I wish to make certain that no other human being will ever undergo the wrongs that Beverly endured. For my fellow citizens who convicted, accused, and victimized you Beverly, I am truly sorry. Please stop this vile appeal, or our nation will be shamed indefinitely by your actions. Growing up I believed in truth and justice, equal and fair in all respects, but the only purpose served in this will be the covering up of the prosecutor and investigators' sins. In short our nation's justice system, in my eyes at least, will forever be unjust!Flag

Name: A. Corwin Taylor on Dec 30, 2002State: VACountry: USComments: After experiencing first hand the corruption and manipulation of the civil court process in Chesterfield County and Charlottesville, Virginia, nothing surprises me. The warnings of Jefferson and Patrick Henry, about living under oppression and tyranny of the judiciary have become everyday occurances. The manner in which unprofessional attorneys are disciplined needs to be changed so that private citizens, not attorneys, have the say in investigating and prosecuting claims of unprofessional acts. Also, corrupt judges should be impeached, not retired with lifetime payments. Cameras should be in civil and criminal courtrooms to record all proceedings to help eliminate lost evidence and convenient memories of litigants and attorneys.Flag
