Name: Darien Converse on Apr 13, 2007Comments: I'm in middle school and we're wearing the uniforms. It hasn't stop anything. Kids are still being bullied and teased. Since we've started going to school in kindergarten, teachers have told us we need to be individuals, that we need to be our own person and not what our peers want us to be. But how can we be individuals if we're forced to be like everyone else Uniforms have also caused problems for the parents that can't afford them. I have a brother who is wearing uniforms and a sister who will be wearing uniforms next year. You can see this will be a problem. Not only do we have to get new uniforms, but we can only get maybe three or four pairs. This is causing us to wash laundry constantly. So not only is uniforms affecting our school life, but it is causing a money problem at home. If this board of education is for the students, how can you let this go on Cause we all know there are some families that have barely enough moeny to live, and all that the board of education is doing is causing them to spend more money that they probably don't have. The parents are already working enough trying to buy school supplies, materials for school projects, and the paying the high gas prices it takes to go from place to place, yet the board of education wants them to spend more money All unuiforms have done this year is cause more problems. If anyone from chatam county is reading this and supports the uniforms I have a question for you. How has uniforms solved anything this yearFlag

I think it is ridiculous and they can still be made fun of by the clothes they wear as uniforms. Someone could still have clothes that are not as good as someone else (cheaper - say Wal-mart brand vs. IZOD or something like that). I agree it is more money spent on something they only wear at school, and then you still have to buy the "cool" clothes for when they are not in school.Flag

Kids are still being teased about: how long or short their hair is, whetther their hair looks good, what kind of shoe brand they have on, are their uniforms clean, are they tight, do the kids have good hygiene, etc. So you see, no matter what, kids are going to bully. it life! i bet every last on of the Board of education members teased someone. Let us be free! we well deserve it!Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jul 26, 2011Comments: Let's be for real. Uniforms was one of the bast thing that happened to Chatham County School System. I don't know what school your child attends but if you believe that what the children wear are not one of the many distraction that they have placed on them. Then YOU are out of touch If that were true them why in some school systems we have kids taking other kids shoes? Why do we have them teasing others about what they are wearing? And you say that for the most part that kids don't dress in a disrespectful manor. I'm around all walks of life and it's not like is was when we were young. The thing today is wearing less is best. And having them to wear uniforms is getting them prepared for a career. Dressing on a professional level. Hay, is that not why were sending them to school? And last cost. It's harder for parents/students going around buying the name brand clothes for an entire week. That's when it becomes expensive. And what the student is going to wear to school the next day. Is one less thing they will have to worry about. Kids already have enough to think about. Now you want to add clothes to the list.Flag
