Name: Anonymous on Jan 3, 2013Comments: It is totally unjust that Chris McGee should have taken all the blame. There were many people who had a duty of care that night who should shoulder the guilt. Why didn't one of her friends take her home when she was obviously in an unfit state to be out anywhere, can't imagine what a state she would have been in going around the city with all the dangers that would involve.Flag

It is as though parents condone there kids to get drunk at an early age, there are two sides to this case but we have only heard one. I also feel sorry foe there loss.Flag

Name: John W on Jan 3, 2013Comments: Although it was a disaster for a young person to die it seems to me that the entire blame has been laid at the feet of the guard. Georgina was clearly very intoxicated and had caused trouble earlier on the train. Her friends did not seem to do much to help her. Mr McGee must have been frustrated to the delays in his service and was trying to get the train moving on time. There were a lot of other passangers on the train as well Georgina's party.. I think Georgina's mum's comments after the trial were harsh, I can understand her deep upset, but surely she can see that Georgina herself was largely to blame for the situation she found herself in. The papers today say that Mr McGee is to appeal, I don't think the verdict should be reversed but I do believe his sentence should be cut, preferably to 'time served'Flag

Name: Chris on Jan 4, 2013Comments: I agree that someone must be held responsible for that poor girls death, but as I understand it, Mr McGee's action was not the only factor, and his sentence is outrageous. There should have been others with him in the dock, who's failings led to this tragedy. It's time those people were held accountable publicly.Flag

Name: Ian Burford on Jan 5, 2013Comments: Sad as this is for the girl and her parents, the responsibility is not with a hard working responsible person who just happened to cross the path of what was, unfortunately, an accident just waiting to happen. The girl was under age and drunk, both are criminal offence and it is also a criminal offence to supply to an under age. likewise with the drugs. I have not heard of any charges being brought against the suppliers, WHY? Do we really want a society where the guilty are allowed to peddle their illegal wares to under age children while innocent people are locked up for failing to recognise and deal with the results of this. One final point, it is illegal to put your feet on the seats at merseyrail and passengers have been taken to court to uphold this, however it appears to legal to be drunk, stoned and troublesome so long as you do not put your feet on the seats. Get a grip merseyrail and the legal system. Release Chris now and show you want a decent society, not one run by the criminals.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jan 6, 2013Comments: I have only just realised this petition is here and I am so glad that the family of the guard are trying to get justice for him. I am greatly concerned and generally horrified that a justice system which is supposed to protect us all can be allowed to make such a ridiculously obvious mistake. This poor man has been hung out to dry and made an example of. What about the support at the station on the day. Has it at any point been taken into account that there were many errors of judgement made on that day before Georgia got anywhere near a train? It was obviously a very difficult and confusing situation when she actually did reach the train and it seems that no responsibility has been taken from the many processes, policy and people involved including that of Georgia and her friends (although obviously my heart goes out to her family). If this was an airport and a plane involved she would have got nowhere near the tarmac due to the duty of care required for all passengers and employees. If a taxi driver pulled off as somebody 'fell' onto his car would they too be given the same sentence? I only hope that an appeal will bring about a fair decision and I wish him and his family all the best in this cruel process.Flag
