Name: Cllr Michael Roberts on Nov 27, 2012Comments: Whilst I feel sorry for her family, people need to take responsibility for their own actions. What is a drink and drug induced 16-year-old doing out at this time anyway? This is clearly an awful accident. Chris poses no danger watsoever to the community and it serves no purpose to make him and his family suffer as well. I hope he can successfully appeal his sentence.Flag

Name: Simon J C Davies on Nov 28, 2012Comments: Wholly inappropriate to jail the guard, people must take some responsibility for their own actions and those of their family and friends. If this girl had not been so drunk or if her friends had looked after her properly that evening she would never have been in the situation in the first placeFlag

Name: Anonymous on Nov 28, 2012Comments: This man has been made a scapegoat, over the years we have seen many railway deaths precipitated by operater and Government failures, without any penal sanctions. This is a case of over reaction to a death, sad as it was but directly caused by the actions of the deceased.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Nov 28, 2012Comments: although its a tragedy this is no way for a 16 year old to behave, if chris magee is partly to blame for the death then her parents are equally to blame, im 22 and as i have been brought up correctly i wouldnt get in this situation. as sad as it is i totally disagree on the sentancing of chris magee and if he is to serve a jail sentance then her parents should be tooFlag

Name: Tim Mobbs on Nov 29, 2012Comments: The sentence imposed is excessive. I have read about armed Robbers, serious Fraudsters and Paedophiles getting less than 5 years! Given that the victim was drunk & drugged I think she, her friends and parents are also in part responsible. There is also now a report that states the infrastructure and systems were at fault! So taking into account, there were so many other factors, 5 years, if any prison at all, are excessive! Also you need to take into account the moral perspective. Here is a guy going about is job of work. Drunken teenagers, probably being unruly, on the trains - a regular Friday/Saturday night occurrence, but wrong nonetheless! Then Why should this man end up in prison because of a terrible "accident"!!Flag

Name: CHRIS BATES on Nov 29, 2012Comments: This is a gross miscarriage of justice. If anyone should have been prosecuted, then it should have been those who supplied drink and illegal drugs to the deceased. It is clear from the RAIB report that the guard handled a difficult situation as well as he could. It is outrageous that a decent, hard working man serving the public should be prosecuted and jailed. Even drunken care drivers who kill don't get such a long sentence. I repeat: this is an outrageous miscarriage of justice.Flag
