The staff at merseyrail have to deal with silly people every week like her, knowing the dangers.what are the staff meant ti do. This was not Chris's fault.Flag

Name: Andy Richmond on Nov 17, 2012Comments: Chris McGee made a catastrophically unfortunate error of judgement under severe duress - he has lost his job, he has lost everything, he is a broken man. Why did he stand in the dock alone for ALL the guilty parties here, & why did he go to prison for all of them?? A terrible injustice has been served here - I sincerely hope that you're out soon Chris, & that you can possibly put this terrible event behind you, We all sail so close on the railways, & you were the one that got caught out - it could have happened anywhere, & my heart goes out to you, friend.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Nov 17, 2012Comments: this was an accident, the guard was not responsible for her death, Georgia was responsible for her own actions, she took the drink and drug willingly, no one forced her, hermother is looking for a scapegoat someone to blame which is natural, but the guard is not responsible for her daughters actions. It was a tragic accident, no more no less and the guard should be released and re instated on Mersey Rail, who should stand by him and pay his wife his wages for the next 5 years if he is not released.Flag

However, as a railway worker, I see similar situations on a regular (i.e. weekly) basis and feel that the Guard has been made a scapegoat: The young lady broke the law, and if railway companies throughout the country were to at least attempt to enforce the byelaws which are in place prohibiting people in her state from entering railway premises, perhaps she would still be alive today.Flag
