Comments: My sincerest sympathy and support for this poor man.You try and do your job and want to go home, but get caught out by someone high on drugs&alcohol who cares little for the public service. Its a great shame the judge&jury did not ride another late night Friday night service home to see what we have to put up with onboard services. They may have come to another conclusion. The blame is firmly at the hands of the woman.I hope justice prevails for this man.

Comments: Doesn't look like anyone leaning against a train for support. In fact, looks like a pretty typical situation when trains leave a station.

Comments: The same judge who jailed this guard let some violent racist shoplifters go free, yet their violent actions lead to the death of an innocent person dying. Incidentally other railway staff found guilty of manslaughter with higher death counts have received far more lenient sentences, or weren't even charged. Until I have read the official RAIB report, I cannot comment on what really went wrong, but five years for a split second mistake, when passenger behaviour on these late night trains is highly reckless is a complete insult to British Justice.

Comments: Totally disproportionate sentence, when you look at deliberate violent crimes and the sentences they receive, it defies all logic and undermines confidence in the criminal justice system.

Comments: This sentence shows what a complete joke the custodial and sentencing system can be in this country sometimes. Whatever happened to personal culpability? Or the parents lack of responsiblity? Shouldguards now be required to add childminding to their list of duties? What a complete waste of taxpayers money locking this guy up is. Perhaps community service instead ...

Comments: This punishment is far too severe for what was a momentary lack of judgement. While it is very sad that someone lost their life as a result, let's try to keep some perspective over the actions and intentions of Chris McGee
