A petition requesting Freddie Mac to reconsider their decision denying The Scheiblein family of Lake in the Hills, IL the opportunity to purchase the home they currently reside in; which was foreclosed on from underneath them while they were renting it. The Scheibleins were not the cause of the foreclosure; rather the owners simply chose not to pay their mortgage and walked away from the home. The Scheibleins paid rent responsibly, maintained the property and established themselves as members of the community during the almost three years living in the home. The Scheibleins have formally submitted a fair market value offer on the home, provided proof of financing, adhered to everything request of Freddie Mac and their managing companies, and are ready to close on the home immediately. After weeks of working to buy the home, Freddie Mac has decided to refuse to sell the home to the Scheibleins. They want them to move out first and submit an offer after it becomes vacant, inspected, fixed up and listed for sale (approximately 45-60 days from move out). The Scheibleins, having lived in the home for almost three years, are aware of the repairs the house will need in the near future and are willing to take the home AS IS hence eliminating the need for Freddie Mac to inspect and fix up the home prior to listing it for sale. Freddie Macs decision to refuse the tenant purchase of the home will be the direct cause for another home entering their flooded inventory of vacant, abandoned, foreclosed homes and will have a significant impact on the neighborhood. No one wants the stress of another vacant home further devaluing their home/property, nor do they want the financial burden for the cost of property maintenance (lawn and snow), supposed repairs, marketing and property taxes of the vacant home. Why should Freddie Mac be entitled to government bailout money for this property becoming vacant when they are the ones forcing it to become vacant? Freddie Mac has the opportunity to make this a win win for all and is simply and selfishly refusing to work with and for the people they were put in place to help. Please sign this petition to support the Scheibleins as they fight for the opportunity to buy their home. Thank you for your support.
