Such harsh limits and closures are not needed. The fishery is in as good of shape as I have seen ever.ZIP code:Flag

Name: Robert DeVincentis on Nov 20, 2009State of residnce:Comments: The SEDAR 15 report is fatally flawed as noted by numerous scientists. I have done ver 1,000 dives offshore Jacksonville for the last 13 years and have seen the improvement of snapper over those years. There is an over abundance of Red Snapper off of the coast.ZIP code:Flag

Name: Angelo Manni on Nov 20, 2009State of residnce:Comments: This is an important part of my life and many others. I live in the Northeast and would hate for this to spread. I frequent North Carolina on fishing vacations which is a main source of income for most of the Outer Banks. Fishing and boating are what I work hard for. It is not only a sport it is a lifestyle. This has to be stopped. I dont think they realize the future effects. Thanks Fish On !!ZIP code:Flag

Name: Martin Douglas on Nov 20, 2009State of residnce:Comments: I am a sport fisherman residing in Florida and help contribute to the $35 Billion that the industry provides to the economy every year. As a stakeholder and participant in the fisheries resources, my assessment, made from direct personal observation conflicts with the presumptive models based in incomplete and questionable data being presented by the national marine fisheries service. It is import to all of us that this moratorium on sport fishing for this abundant species be delayed until sound data are collected, assessed and summarized clearly and in a defensible manner. Please show your support for Congressmen Mica, Brown and other supporting members of Congress in their request to hear this important issue before irreversible economic damage occurs from taking action that may not be necessary at allZIP code:Flag

Name: Bryan Troy on Nov 20, 2009State of residnce:Comments: This closure is not based on any reliable science and that is fact. I have been fishing these waters for the last 15 years and the snapper fishing is as good as i have ever seen it. You will kill the boating industry, the fishing industry and related industry. There will be huge trickle down. If I cant take my family out fishing and spend hundreds of dollars on fuel, bait, ice, insurance and maintenance and not even come home with dinner then I will simply quit fishing. this will hurt all related industries. If you want to protect grouper and snapper stocks then maybe you should look at the numbers that are killed by commercial divers during the thermoclines when it is literally shooting fish in a barrel. Get rid of the shrimp boats that kill juveniles by the thousands but leave the hardworking recreational fisherman alone. The two fish I am allowed to keep are not wiping out the stocks.ZIP code:Flag

There are so many red snapper in the pensacola area waters that it is actually DIFFICULT to avoid catching them. The idea of restricting the fishing season even further is LUDICRIS! I plan to vote in the next election based on how my elected officials respond to this matter, as do a large number of my friends.ZIP code:Flag

Name: Michelle Cooke on Nov 21, 2009State of residnce:Comments: Please stop these closures. It is crazy to close Snapper when they are plentiful. The Snapper are so thick in some areas that it makes it hard to get to other fish. It is wrong to put a no catch law on them, not to mention how it will hurt the marine industry & commercial fisherman.ZIP code:Flag
