Name: Anonymous on Jan 18, 2008Comments: I have a Pit bull, she is 12 years old, she has never hurt anyone. How ever the 7 inch tall chawaa next door has bit many people. A dog is just like a child, the inviroment it grows up in is how the dog will react. if your mean to your child your child growns up mean, if your mean to your dog well then your dog grows up mean. insted of punishing the dog for what it does, punish the owner for raising it to be mean. insted of having your power box's in back yards require owners of all dogs to move them to the side or front of house where there isint a dog. This whole issue of a dog in a yard is bull, thats why there is a front door, knock ... its not that hard to do.... oh by the way.. cats bite too.....Flag

Name: Jessica Kaljeskie on Jan 18, 2008Comments: Pit Bulls are just as vicious as any other breed. Its not the dog its the owner. Just because they are scary looking does not mean they are vicious. I have 2 at home now that I saved from a shelter and they are the smartest dogs i own. Not only are they smart but very loving to anyone who comes to them from 8 to 80 years old. I do not know what I would tell my kids if i had to get rid of them just because of other peoples stupidity.Flag

Name: Michelle Brinkmann on Jan 18, 2008Comments: You're afraid of a Pitbull attack, but what about other breeds They aren't just as dangerous Even the smallest of dogs can cause enough damage! They act how they are raised... do what they are told to do. Just like any breed... they aim to please their OWNERS!!!! They don't know any better... they only know what they are tought! Don't discrimnate the breed... don't make an excuse to make more money off of people who are unaware... Have your meter readers know about dogs... ALL BREEDS before you send them out!! Make it mandatory to carry pepper spray just in case. An attack can come from ANY breed of dog... We teach them to protect our families, and our homes... but when they do what we want... what they are tought to do.... you people use it as an excuse to cause more problems. Remember... It's not the dogs who do wrong.. it's the people who teach them how to do it!!!!!!!Flag

Name: Kristie D. on Jan 18, 2008Comments: The person(s) who wrote this portion of FPL's policy should become educated about the topic before making business decisions and changes to a company policy. Obviously this was not the case here. I'd like to add that the 2 times I have been bitten by a dog, they were very small breeds (a pomeranian and a chihuahua).Flag

Even if we weren't home, the dogs are secured inside the house. MY DOGS NEVER GO OUT IN PUBLIC WITHOUT A LEASH! The reason isn't my dogs it's other peoples dogs.Flag

My kids wouldn't hurt a fly, and know the limits of what they can do with their strengths......because I TAUGHT them to do so. It's the owner not the dog people.Flag

Name: Chris Kennell on Jan 18, 2008Comments: As much as I agree with saftey being a number one priority for any employee by any employer, this "new policy change" concerning PitBullsis absolutely absurd. "Labeling" a residence simply for the breed of dog they own is the same as racial profiling, and the last time I checked that was illegal as well. FPL you should be ashamed of this momentary lapse in judgment and appoligize to your costumers immediatelyFlag

Name: Tanya Ray on Jan 19, 2008Comments: Meter readers should be concerned with making contact with ANY dog they are not familiar with. ANY dog's natural instinct would be to protect its property. The breed of the dog should not be a deciding factor. As long any dog is in a secure place where they will not make contact with the utility employee on the reading date should be sufficient. A person should not have to miss work to have their meter read!Flag
