Comments: I am devastated as this is cutting through my own property. As a long time supporter of my local organic farmers and believer of living holistically, I could not believe the government is robbing our sacred food source -- the livelihood of the farmers. The farmers, Ting and Risa, is the second generation farmers immigrant from Taiwan. They hold pride of taking good care of their farm. They share their love and happiness with many local families, many with small children. They are no longer able to protect their farmland from this highway robbery, and is forced to give up part of their farmland for the road development and perhaps future commercial development which is in planned. Building roads is not the only way of relieve traffic, and there are alternatives. The road only encourage more car, more traffic and more pollution which contribute to the global warming.

Comments: The Fraser Valley is one of the best agriculture areas in North America and the world. So much so, that if the United Nations ever put together a list of world heritage sites for agriculture--places that ranked as the very best and most important agriculture areas, the Fraser Valley would be high on the list. It is very small in size, yet, due to its wonderful climate, great soils, great water supply, expert and ethnically diverse farmers and close proximity to a diverse and large urban population, it ranks as a vital food producing region. Rarely do the areas that we depend on for food have so many agricultural attributes as the Fraser Valley. The main threat to this area is urbanization and road building. We need to stop losing farm land!!

Comments: I signed this petition because I object to paving roads through farmland. We must balance growth with sustainability - and by paving through farmland, especially organic farmland, we are not sustaining growth.
