Comments: Same problem with abalone (perlemoen) poaching! Why doesn't our government put pressure on those countries where we know the rhino horn ends up to discourage their citizens from purchasing products made from them?

Comments: Part of our Countries' heritage is being lost. Once lost, it will be gone forever. Then any should have thoughts are in vain. Rather, let all effort go into protecting these animals, that are only equiped to protect themselves against natural predators, not the sophisticated human poachers. Regards

Comments: Hi, We need to find a way and stop this massacre before it's too late, we cannot allow these thieves and poachers to do what they do and let them get away with what they do. We not only do we owe it to ourselves, and future generations, but also to an animal that is killed for it's horn to attain large sums of money. If the Rhino's horn had no value, there wouldn't be any Rhino's slaughtered as they are. This problem needs to be addressed from the top, and politics mustn't linger on making drastic decisions since time is running out and can't sit around debating on what to do, but to act and to act soon. It doesn't help to try and find a cure to this problem by adding more security on the ground to try and patrol vasts amount of lands with limited infrastructure to support those trying to catch the thieves, but rather stab a knife right at the heart of the condition by increasing the severity of those caught such as the death penalty of life imprisonment as well as finding ways to drastically lower the value of Rhino horns so that it's not worth the trouble. Money is indeed the root of most trouble, and lowering the value of something will stop people seeing the value in Rhino horn. to try and get their hands on it and killing Rhino's in the process. It should be forbidden by law for anyone to buy anything related to any Rhino horn or just ivory for that matter as to also protect Elephants. The people who insist that Rhino horn does have some magical medicinal cure, must be educated and made aware that it's all nonsense and that their selfish actions will be the cause to the extinction of an entire species and future generations will look back and find just how immoral, inhumane, ignorant and stupid our generation were to not have protected these animals on the verge of extinction and to fight and stand up for what is right. It seems the leaders of today doesn't have the backbone to stand up for and do what's right or have the mentality capacity to grasp what actions needs to be taken and that are necessary that will put an end to this madness. We need to stop this if we want to have any Rhino's left! Stricter rules (laws), a no tolerance attitude towards any offenders and much stricter punishment would be a good place to start. Throwing money at the problem is not going to cure it. Wernher

Comments: If only our greed for money could be supassed by the appretiation of the beauty of nature and God's creation. God made these animals so that we can appreciate and enjoy his creation, not to harm them for our selfish gains. Where is the sense that God created us with?

Comments: Please consider legalising the trade of rhino horn. At least in that way, the market will be satisfied and the poachers will not be the sole suppliers who can dictate supply and demand and demand ridiculously high prices. And rhino horn can be harvested in more humane ways, eg from naturally deceased rhinos. There will always be a market for rhino horn, the East is just too deeply entrenched in superstitious beliefs about the powers of rhino horn! This problem will not go away soon. Thank you.
