I get the same response every time. "We have looked into it and would love to open a location out there, but the rent is astronomical!" Thanks for putting this together. I wish that Forest City would listen better. I remember a community meeting in which we spoke at length as to what residences want for the new town center. It was the overwhelming opinion that smaller local companies were preferred to those of the large chains.Flag

I am a Stapleton resident and I don't want live somewhere where small businesses cannot be successful and only large chains are there. Stapleton- feels not so different.Flag

I want new small independent stores, I want a breath of FRASH AIR! Corporate...go to TEXAS! They like it big there! Here in Denver, we're sick of it! Support local if you consider yourself environmental friendly! If not, stop bragging about something that you barely comply with to start with. Recycled concrete...and you think you're all that. So misleading...Flag

Name: Anonymous on Aug 4, 2007Comments: So many of us choose to live in Stapleton to avoid the cookie cutter chain lifestyle of the suburbs. We're seriously considering moving back to Park Hill because Stapleton feels too much like the 'burbs and I know of several other neighbors who are thinking about doing the same. Listen to the community members and understand why they purchased a home here - chances are it is not to be closer to yet another Starbucks!Flag

Name: David VanEaton on Aug 5, 2007Comments: It is imperative that the retail rates are lowered to maintain the urban feel of stapleton. Why would you rather have vacant spaces for years when you could be making money with lower retail rental rates It just doesn't make sense. The retail in this area is completely disappointing and Northfield completely missed the demographic mark. Why don't you seek out more stylish retail shops that are more upscale Look to Belmar as a good example or the highland area.Flag

Name: Jesse Sisneros on Aug 11, 2007Comments: I was in the UK recently and toured a infill development similar to Stapleton. This development Co. actually went out of their way to invite small business to the town center by holding competitions, in one case "best fish and chips", where the winner would receive a reduced lease rate for 1 year in order to establish the business. This achieves not only "mom and pop" shops opening businesses, not only ensures that those businesses are amongst the best, but also provides the community with commerce that attracts people from around Denver to visit and live in Stapleton. These people prefer the more antiquated, capitalist "bottom up" approach, where they struggle to get enough bodies in the homes to justify the corporate business ventures of Noodles & Co. and Chipotle to name a few. -JSFlag
