The Petition

We, the employees of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) support the organization’s move to operate in a manner that places the health of our environment as a top priority. To reach this goal, we propose that an Environmental Committee be put in place. This committee will offer suggestions for implementation by management and employees. We invite our colleagues from across the country to join us in supporting this initiative. We hope that by doing this, Canada’s national public broadcaster will become an example to the rest of the Public Sector and Canadian society, in the fight against global warming and climate change.

Nous, les employés de la Société Radio-Canada (SRC), appuyons les changements dans la façon d’opérer de l’organisation qui priorisent la santé de notre environnement. Pour atteindre ce but, nous proposons qu\'un Comité environnemental soit mis en place, afin de suggérer les actions nécessaires à mettre en application par l’administration et les employés. Nous invitons nos collègues à travers le pays à se joindre à nous en appuyant cette initiative, de sorte que la SRC devienne un exemple au sein de la société et du secteur public canadien, dans la lutte contre le réchauffement de la terre et les changements climatiques.

The benefits of strong, early action on climate change outweigh the costs…
The effects of our actions now on future changes in the climate have long lead times. What we do now can have only a limited effect on the climate over the next 40 or 50 years. On the other hand, what we do in the next 10 or 20 years can have a profound effect on the climate in the second half of this century and in the next.

Les avantages d’un plan d’action fort et immédiat pour les changements climatiques sont supérieurs aux coûts...
L’histoire démontre que nos actions dans le présent affecteront les changements que subit notre climat dans le futur. Ce que nous faisons à court terme maintenant aura seulement un effet limité sur le climat dans les 40 ou 50 prochaines années. Cependant, ce que nous faisons dans les 10 ou 20 ans à suivre peut avoir un effet profond sur le climat d’ici le prochain siècle.
