We, the undersigned, call upon FIFA, UEFA and all the governing bodies of football worldwide to implement a WORLDWIDE salary cap for football players.
The amounts some top footballers are paid are simply OBSCENE.
A salary cap would also reduce the often horrendous debt levels at some clubs and significantly reduce the % clubs spend on salaries. It may also reduce ticket prices for the fans who are struggling to afford them due to the current economic downturn.
We appreciate that football does generate a phenomenal amount of income and players are only at the top of their earning power for 5 -10 years but do not believe that the wages are reflective or realistic in a modern society blighted by inequality.
