Melanie SwistunPlease leave the green spaces in Thunder Bay alone. Those green spaces is what draws people here... ALL people, not just the wealthy. I would like my daughter and her generation to grow up here and be proud, not bored to say she is from beautiful Thunder Bay. Sincerely, Melanie & Jane Swistun

John F. AndersonI think we all know what would happen if some person not in their right began cutting down trees randomly with a chain saw in Marina Park. Of course they would arrested on the spot for vandalism and willfull destruction of pubic property. The person would 'reamed out' by a judge and told their behaviour was shamefull and disgusting. Perhaps you could tell me why then, a bulldozer has some sort of "diplomatic immunity" in the same situation. The park is beautiful, leave it alone!!!!
J.W.MillsThe plan for the park is poorly thought out . I think that the plan does more to wreck the existing park at great expense. There is going to be less access to handicapped and elderly. I could go on but this is just a comment..Stop the work and rethink the plan.WHAT ABOUT POOL SIX PROPERTY????
Michelle McRaeAfter just having been in a few bays or ports outside of Thunder Bay, it amazes me how short-sighted we are when it comes to development in Thunder Bay. Has anyone in council ever been out of Thunder Bay? Makes me wonder...

AnonymousI am all for the waterfront development project, but not at our already beautiful marina park.
AnonymousThe only hotel that should be built at Marina park is a winter ice hotel. These hotels in Sweden, Quebec and other places have generated massive tourist revenue for the areas hosting them. People come from around the world to experience them. Best of all, they are all melted by the summer so that the park can be enjoyed in its natural beauty year after year. We need creative energy from Council, not casinos, condos and empty hotels on our dime. Meanwhile, I still can't get a family doctor, my family has moved out west and the potholes in the roads are killing my car.

No to ProgressWe should not do anything in Thunder Bay to make our city better. Given time as young people leave and old people die off, our beautiful region will once again return to its original state. It is wrong to want to improve our city, and too expensive too.
Weston StrandI think we pay enough taxes, and we are losing population in Thunder Bay. How are we supposed to fill vacancies?
Heather GilliesWhile I do think that something needs to be done at the marina, I don't believe condos are the answer. I would love to see more children's attractions like they have in Duluth. There has to be a better way to improve the waterfront!
Paul ScogingI cannot believe that city council is defying the general opinion of the voters of Thunder Bay in continuing their hasty development. I am completely against this project for 2 reasons: 1. it's a giant waste of tax-payers money especially when they face no gain from it. For instance Thunder Bay has at best 3 months of usable warmth and sunshine to make all the money that is apparentely gonna be brought in our community. The only people that will make money on this project are the investors in condominiums and companies building them and roads etc. 2. I am also against this because I live in the Southward or "Fort William" and I am very curious why everything needs to be built in the northward or "Port Arthur." The south end of the city has lots of undeveloped areas for a marina including places where a hundred+ years of pollution don't make for as much of a problem. In conclusion I am 100% against this project and would be more than happy to voice my concern publically if needed.
Anonymousi think you all have had an opportunity to make your views known at the beginningo fthis project, this marina park development has been going since pre-1965. My point is that if your lack of vision causes this project to be cancelled then i think you should pay the costs for all the pre-development and planning which includes consulting, pentities, wages, lawyers, architects, such to name a few. then this is true democracy!!!!!!!!
Lynn BarberI wish that a credible landscape artchitect, natural park creator could have a long look at the plan and give a full critique of it. It seems to me to be a plan created by rigging the cooperation of developers by offering them prime land for condos and a hotel, furthermore it will be easy to develop those structures where they are now planned.. I am sure that putting the condos and the hotel furtther out towards the Bay would be possible, but that is not in their best interest. Any proposal should look at park and walkways first and take the condos closer to the water. The developers can keep their condos on the other side of Water ST.

John CelmerI support improving the waterfront but do not see where cutting down trees and building condos and a hotel, in the existing park actually improves anything. I should not be expected to pay more taxes for less green space and park. I enjoy the park as it currently is and hope any waterfront development happens in the eyesore south of the existing park.
Ron StechyshynI am in favor of adding things to draw people to this beautifull park of ours,BUT I AM TOTALLY AGIANST ANY CONDOS, HOTEL OR SKATEBOARD PARK.It's a park and marina should be improved to add more boating spots, add a big ship for tourists to go through complete with a restrurant.Expand on more flower garden spaces. Gift shops ,eateries, summer markets, all will add to this area. NOT CONDOS,HOTELS

Tyler BiloskiIf you look at pictures of the city from out on the lake it's a beautiful site if you fix the marina up if will look even nicer but by putting 7+story building up on it will distory it.
Peter FranzenNo Hotel and Condos
Iam AnimbyLets fight progress in Thunder Bay. We don't need no jobs. Our young people can get welfare instead of jobs. They can sit and do nothing down at the marina park.

J SuttonWhere's the meeting on the 22nd March.
Cassandra KardaczI do not understand why the city is spending money on the Waterfront Project, when the people of Thunder Bay have voted against. I also do not understand why the city is spending the taxpayers money and taking out even more loans when we are in debt already! This city is slowly dying and my building more Condos and Hotels will NOT help the economy in Thunder Bay. I believe that the tax payers money should be used to renovate what we have already, make the city look cleaner, fix up the roads and streets in the city, i mean think about we're spending $200 million dollars to build up the Waterfront, which will become a privatized area. Instead i believe that the money should be used to fix up the streets and roads, Onion Lake Road was listed in the Top 10 of Canada's Worse roads! This is not right! The City Council is going against the community's vote... this should not be happening. Another issue is the skatepark! There are only 2 other skateparks like the one that they are building in Canada and those are found in Winnipeg and Toronto but look at their population compared to us! This will definitely not attract more people. As a student going into university i know for a fact that many students are planning to move away after schooling because of the lack of jobs! The city is loosing people and the unemployment rates are going up, they should be trying to create more jobs, not privatizing and expanding Marina Park! I believe it is beautiful the way it is, and it should STAY that way!

don goodfellowwhy break the park up
Karern NystromI thoroughly disagree with hotels and condos on public property. Who wants to live/stay next to the railrod? We have a wonderful marina and park - let's go with what is working for people, especially Thunder Bay residents - they are here year round!
Tyler NorhI moved here from Manitoba and have been amazed at the beauty Thunder Bay and area has to offer. I have visited Marina Park more than 3 dozens times in my year here and have taken friends and relatives to enjoy its beauty. The one comment that I consistently hear and agree with is why not get rid of some elevators (eye-soars) and extend parks and paths down the shore line. This would create more attractions and be money well spent rather than replacing a beautiful and already well used public greenspace. Public space should not be controlled or manipulated for private gain!!!
jukka tuiskuThe fact that private developers are still willing to touch this hot potato tells me the whole private/public partnership label is a sham. There is money to be made by bleeding the taxpayer dry. Rebranding this a "partnership" is the only thing new under the sun.

Ben DoverThis city is rediculas in the fact the people try to shut down any new progress or developments! The current Marina offers nothing to attract tourism!bring on the condos, hotels, and waterparks! So it comes as no suprise that duluths waterfront is worlds better...the citezens arnt affraid of change and understand spin-off revenue it creates. Worried about cutting down trees? how many trees do you think were wasted by placing ur annoying petition on everyones vehicles???????
