Sherry Dubois | Thunder Bay could put that money towards other much needed improvements...like our roads or the Lakehead University pool. The waterfront project is a very costly idea that the people of Thunder bay will have to pay for a long time and for what? To better the marnia for the wealthy of Thunder Bay. I think there is enough of that already.....what about everyone else!!

elaine tayly | I'm in agreement with developing the park as a park but not with condos or hotels. Downtown core is right there and needs to be redeveloped as other waterfronts that we have been compared to.
Garry Rathje | I am for developing the land as a park, improving the marina boat mooring facilities, the skate board park is a good idea, and any plan that is used for the public interest. I am not for a few private individuals to make a profit building and selling condos on City owned land.
Dawn Gallow | This would be a shame.
carole rumpel | I am opposed to the creation of the condominium buildings and a hotel, as well as the destruction of a considerable amount of the existing park and many other unacceptable changes including the skateboard park that could be located elsewhere - at Boulevard Lake or the "old casino grounds" on North Cumberland Street.
Jon Hutt | Public park land must not be sold to private developers.
Ronald Shiomi | To preserve as much of our natural gift for as long as possible makes more sense than irreversibly encroaching on it just for our immediate material use.
Amy Farrell |
Eric Hutt | Let's keep the park what it is, a park. Maybe if most of the waterfront wasn't lumberyards or closed mills, then there could be room for all. I doubt the condo owners will enjoy all the events that take place anyways. Complaining about noise.

-more protected riparian zones (wooded/forested lake tributaries
-less pavement
-space for outdoor Country Market |

devon smith | reality check!! americans weren't coming up here when our dollar was 62 cents, you expect them to come here when the dollar is at par.they don't even mention thunder bay on the duluth news on their cbs and nbc affiliate when they do the weather. talking to americans in duluth, they don't like coming up here because it is a major letdown!!all of a sudden we put condos and hotels at the marina, they'll be swarming to thunder bay, give me a break!!
June Farwell |
Monika Chiodo | Two condominiums are not going to help to attract tourists.

Anonymous | It's a park for all!!! with hotels and condos it then become private....please just make it a park for all to enjoy, not just the rich who can afford a condo, please.
Paivi M Salokari |
Dan Campbell | Investing the tax dollars of the citizens of Thunder Bay to facilitate the building of three large, sprawling condominium-hotel complexes smack-dab beside the old CN Station is a completely wrongheaded decision.
Gerald Walton | Building condominiums in the park is an inappropriate use of public space.

Curtis MacKenzie | The money would better spent on Marina renovations to attract tourists rather than condos and a hotel to accomodate non-existing ones. Completely unacceptable and unnecessary.
Jon Strapac |
Livia Pope | Give me a break!! How about fixing our roads. Some of the roads are so rough it's a wonder I don't throw up every time I have to drive on them. How about putting money towards cleaner energy (wind turbines) so we can get off the electric grid. Only 6 turbines can provide enough power for approx 3,000 homes. How about more recyling depots throughout the city. If the consumer can carry it home from the market, they should be able to bring their waste to a depot. Make recycling manditory. Think about the energy saved if we didn't have someone drive around to pick up recyclables. How about encouraging our local milk/egg distributers to package their product in more enviromentally friendly ways instead of plastic bags or styrofoam eggs cartons. Everyone yaps about waste reduction - how about putting our money to where our mouths are!!!
Anonymous | I do not support the current plans to build codominiums and a hotel in the Marina Park.

| 348 | F. Scott Gale | Our world has developed a deep seeded greed for profits, the destruction of Marina Park in such endeavors bodes ill for what we are as Canadians. Instead, as true Canadians, we should stand against our Governments and show them that we are the people to whom they serve and it is not the other way around. People should never fear their government, it should be the governments that fear it's people (quoted from V for Vendetta, a movie). We have allowed our Government too much freedom, and we are only to blame. Its time to right our wrongs, and be the enduring Canadians we all know we are. Its time for change, the first step will be to regain control over our very futures, and ensure our future's continued existence for generations to come.
Helping to save this park will only be one step amongst many. |

Dawn Homonko | I think building condos and hotels at the waterfront is wrong, wrong, wrong!! There are other ways it could be fixed up but condos would be for a select few to enjoy. This plan must be stopped and we need to vote on it!!
