Cody Oliver | I am horrified at the idea of condominium development at Marina Park. It is the most beautiful part of Thunder Bay and burrying another piece of it under concrete would be a travesty to this city. At the rate that people are leaving Thunder Bay new housing doesn't even seem like a priority if you ask me.
Kathryn LaBelle | Don't ruin our waterfront!

Carina Barrie | While I agree that our waterfront has tremendous potential and that we need more boat slips, I strongly believe that a skateboard park should not be located in this prime location. I also have concerns about the sale of park land for private development. There should have been more opportunity for community input into this plan.
Anonymous | Don't you dare mess up the skate plaza project!!!!
Joy Cummings | I definately feel that there should not be a hotel or condominiums in the park. We also do not need a giant skate park. What good is it in the Winter? We do need to develop the waterfront. A cultural or convention center, or a sports park are some idea's

| 219 | Anonymous | in my humble opinion city officials can do A LOT more with the "millions" of dollars they are planning to spend on their precious marina project.
guaranteed they will end up spending much much more than the projected costs, as with their unnecessarily built hospital. (the two we had could have used a little renovating that would have cost a lot less and provided TBay and surrounding area with many more beds than the new useless facility has.)
IMHO that money should be spent where it is needed - ON OUR CRAPPY ROADS - to begin with anyway, and NOT on another huge waste of tax payers' money. |
Piroska Golphy | Hotels and condos are the last thing we need on the waterfront and its about time City Council starts listening to the people.
Richard Lesnick |
Violet Lesnick |
marge paquette | I think they should build a indoor water park and skate park. That will bring revenue to this city. Thanks for listening.

Lydia Coull | We are Thunder Bay, not TORONTO! Please leave the centre of Canada untouched by towers where there should be green!
katie mahoney | I think that it is absolutely pathetic that ppl want to build condos at the marina. We have more than enough as it is.
Dan Burgoyne | I object strongly to theadditon of condos & a hotel on our marina park territory
G.K.Stahr | there should be a oublic form at this issue
Anonymous | as i have already signed the petition elsewhere, i just want to say, that if everyone who has signed this Petition, brings 2 friends to next Monday's Meeting, we will have made the Chronicle Journal eat its' words, that only 200 were at the last meeting! i want the Marina "as is"!
G.K.Stahr |
Daniel Makinen | I think the condos are a bad idea.
Anonymous |
Lindsy Jupp | I think the money you are planning to put into the waterfront development can be better spent investing in help and better facilities for the poor and homeless. Why not try taxing the big industries for their pollution!!!?\
Anonymous | I think we should build a half demolished grain elevator on the site. It will remind us of our past, and scare away our future. =)

Dani B | y the hell would u ruin something like that. i mean c'mon, we have some events down there n what not. i believe it brings tourists as well.
Jolene Youmans |
Josh Lynn |
Ronald Brown |
Courtney | I think building a condo in the park is ridiculous and a waste of natural space. many citizens of Thunder Bay love the park and do not want its natural beauty to be disrupted by huge concrete, wasteful buildings.
| 246 | Gail Kuhl | I would love to see the green space expanded, not decreased!
Public park space should be for the public, not wealthy condominium owners. There is already so little waterfront space in Thunder Bay that is available for public use.
As far as tourism goes, whenever friends come to town one of the first things they always want to do is go down to the lake. They are often surprised at the lake of green space on the waterfront. A larger and improved green space will be more attractive to tourists, not a bunch of buildings.
Thanks for rethinking this project |
Hugh Dale-Harris |
Rachel Ariss | Marina Park needs to be kept as primarily green space, accessible to all people of Thunder Bay regardless of income. The present amount of green space allows festivals and park use to continue at teh same time. Thunder Bay has enough hotel rooms - we don't want to put our established businesses out of business! City Council needs to focus on supporting public space. Some low-storey, low-key development will help the Park without overwhelming it.
Emily Root | Marina park should remain as "green" and as "public" as possible.
Anonymous | I would like to see the city focus some positive attention on the south side of the city. Seems to me ,this side of Thunder Bay and especially Syndicate to the waterfront are a undesirable place to be especially after dark. The Simpson Street area reminds me of driving into Duluth 40 years ago, with run down boarded up buildings.
