| 754 | Dan Lavery | I was a Duke athlete and student and have followed this case from its inception as a civil rights attorney. I am appalled at the gross prosecutorial misconduct of Mike Nifong towards the Lacrosse team members. I am also distressed by the jump to conclusions of guilt so many persons in the faculty, administration, media, police and the public. Respect for the presumption of innocence suffered greatly in this fiasco. The assumption that every female claiming rape would not lie, and that white athletes are privileged hoolums and gang rapers will forever ruin lives of very productive citizens whose youth and poor judgment on one evening created a nightmare that everyone with issues of race, feminism, and anti athletics exploited beyond anyone's wildest imagination. I am encouraged by the evntual wisdom of the much maligned bar association of North Carolina to charge Nifong with a series of outrageous acts for a prosecutor required to uphold and enforce justice in the community. I will continue to watch this amazing subject evolve with the hope that those that acted hastily wil mature from this horrendous miscarriage of justice and become better citizens for having lived through such an experience. |

| 767 | Sarah Endsley | If these professors do not apologize, I will never visit North Carolina again.
I think only the signers of the second ad need say they're sorry, however.
I believe that the first ad was intended to raise awareness (my goodness--it did that quite effectively, didn't it?) |

| 769 | Laurie F Miller | An apology, forced out of the Group of 88, would probably only make them more hysterical and unfair to students in the future. Which is a problem, since I bet it's impossible to graduate from Duke without having to study under at least some of these 88. The students at Duke do not need to be "outed", indoctrinated, railed at, and smeared. Not only do professors' attitudes need to be changed: the curriculum requirements that force students into these classes need to be changed. Now is the time. |

| 779 | David Marks | The baseless slander of the "gang of 88" is completely reprehensible. The fact that they call their critics McCarthyites is Orwelian. |
| 780 | Dr. F. P. Gerstle, Jr | The Group of 88 have acted in an unprofessional and unscholarly manner. Their rush to judge and condemn the lacrosse players is a disgrace to the academic community. |

| 782 | Marianne Gustafson | It was distressing that from what information was consistently being publicized and commented upon by the press and various special interest groups, that the University did not vigorously address such egregious characterizations. Action taken then would have evened out the scales for these three students and the rest of the University family, and sent an appropriately loud message that gender, race, and poverty can not be the tools to slander or to hijack legal situations. |

| 789 | Kathy J. Ford | The primary function of the University, its administration and faculty is to educate and support its students. Professors who cannot or will not do this for ALL students, regardless of their race, gender or socioeconomic background, need to find another way to make a living. |

| 799 | Robert Dunn | I am ashamed at the lack of support the players have recieved from the University and particularly ashamed at the Group of 88's actions and refusal to apologize. Duke is a family and we are behind the players. |
