I have done a lot of research on this topic. I am a dancer, an art history major, and a musician. So this subject is very close to my heart. Many people really do not understand what the arts does for our creativity, critical thinking, cultural tolerance, and so much more. A Lot of pressure comes from schools who want kids to do well academically when having the arts around helps that! There has been research done throughout the years and the results are that having an arts program makes you a better-rounded student. So I am asking the Florida board of governors to stop cutting the budget for arts programs in Florida schools. Every day, the budget gets cut for arts programs in schools. Every day an artist is struggling to make ends meet because they do not get scholarships like engineers do. Help those out who are amazing at what they do but still do not get recognized because they are not STEM students! Also, help those kids who never had the chance to have an arts program in their lives. The arts have many benefits that include helping improve creativity, opening the mind to other possibilities, helping with culture tolerance, and so much more. So why are the arts not as respected as science or math? Because people aren’t educated as to what the arts do for a person. Yes, the arts also can help with academic standing. So educate yourself and sign this petition to show your support!
