Dear residents of and visitors to Center City, This petition is meant to deliver the unequivocal message that the recent spate of so-called 'flash-mob' attacks in Center City, while highly troublesome and disconcerting, will not cause us to lose faith in the viability of our wonderful downtown neighborhoods, which we will continue to inhabit and visit. The causes for 'flash-mobs' may be complex and lamentable, but there is no justification for the cruel and senseless attacks, and we must show that we residents and visitors to Center City stand united in defiance of these attacks that seek to destroy the otherwise amiable atmosphere downtown. Center City will only continue to further develop as a highly-desireable downtown destination, and we, its current residents and visitors, are proud to be part of this transformation. This thuggery only strengthens our resolve to live in, shop in, walk in, and generally enjoy the quality of life here, and we have faith in the ability of the city government, community leaders, and Philadelphia's youth to be a positive part of this process as well.
