| 1851 | Bonnie O'Brien | No student could be said to be educated without a good background in the study of science. The understanding of science is mandatory in world of the future. We don't want our students in the state of Florida be denied an outstanding science background. |
| 1852 | aaron sugarman | Since the schools teach science classes, and biology classes, which are science based teachings, it only follows that the natural evolution of species be taught in the schools. We are all, always, evolving. Evolution can simply be the way that "God" or the "Creator" allows the world to shape itself, or change. Science fails to support the ancient belief that the world is flat, and that the world is only several thousand years old. Science does support that we are all children of an "Eve", however... Perhaps, schools should include a caveat in all teachings, that we should not believe what we read, but consider all teachings, and apply them, and determine on our own whether they are true, or not, and if such cannot be determined, that it remain a mystery. If some people want to teach their children that we are all descended from Adam and Eve who suddenly appeared on the world some thousands of years ago, that is their freedom, but separation of church beliefs and state must be enforced in the public schools. |

| 1854 | fran ticino | florida needs to give their students a chance to be better informed on all aspects of life. science is an important part of this |
| 1855 | Anonymous | I support the new science standards. Creationist myth is not science. |

| 1859 | cary nation | Get Florida on the ball! Our students are our most important product. |
| 1860 | Barry Wharton | I am particularly concerned with efforts by opponents to the proposed science standards to get the words "theory of" inserted in front of "evolution." That evolution occurred and is still occurring is a very well established scientific fact. |

| 1867 | Gregory Kirkwood | People need to be more aware of the fact that the theory of evolution is undisputable and is the greatest scientific breakthrough in mankind's history. Religion, as always, is standing in the way of progress. Shame on you all who believe in anything else but evolution, especially the people who still don't believe in global warming. Wake up, shun your faith and start taking responsibility to become more educated as a human being. |
| 1868 | Elayne Koenigsberg | |
| 1869 | Brooke Rosenzweig | I attribute my success in science to a thorough high school education in science (I'm currently getting a PhD in Biological Chemistry at Yale University). The one area in which my high school science education lacked was evolution in introductory biology. I had to catch up in college; adopting the new, evolution-prominent standards is crucial for our state! |
| 1870 | Richard King | stop sliding science standards - keep science in science classes and keep religion out of it. |
| 1871 | John Dowd | Please see the A rated Massachusetts and New York standards. Florida should not take a backseat to the northeast in science education. |
| 1872 | Frank Barrett | This Is Important For Religious Freedom. |
| 1873 | Glenn A. Paul | |
| 1874 | Pennie Tilkens | |
| 1875 | Linda Crawford | Please do not allow Florida Science Education to continue to languish. Please remember that you are a board of education, not a board of religion. |
| 1876 | Sebastian Milia | |
| 1877 | Ronald Toth | Faith is indeed powerful and makes people feel good but it is not a substitute for reason and data. The theory of Evolution is the only explaination for the laws of biology which is also consistant with the laws of physics. Creationism is not. |
| 1878 | Anthony Hamilton | I have lived in Florida for more than 50 years. It's a great state, but it won't continue to be if we allow our children to be indoctrinated with religious beliefs rather than science in our schools |
| 1879 | Miguel A. Velazquez | I believe that each faith should uphold its own religious enterpretation of creationism within the confines of its place of worship and the family home. The school should be authorized to teach the theory of evolution as part of the science curriculum. Thus, I firmly support this petition. |
| 1880 | Cari Verschueren | I stand by NSTA's statement that Evolution is a Theory based on facts. It is not nor any way shape or form any type of Belief or Religion. |
| 1881 | Adrien Helm | |
| 1882 | Thomas Foley | Religious creation myths do not belong in the science classroom. To allow one -- the dominant myth -- would nessesitate allowing all of humanity's diverse and bizarre creation myths to be "taught" alongside bona fide science. The "mexican-standoff" of separation of church and state benefits everyone -- regardless of the rubbish children are taught outside of school. To allow these religious thugs to impose superstition in the science classroom would be a move back in the direction of the dark ages, the period when the church and state were one entity. |
| 1883 | Henry Walters | Please help Florida to move into the 21st century and out of the 19th. |
| 1884 | Lynda Gurvitz | |
| 1885 | Linda P. Carroll, Ph.D. | I am in complete agreement with the above statements. By the way, I am also a person of faith, belong to and attend my church regularly, have taught religious education, and sing in the choir.
I believe that that search for truth is an ongoing process. |
| 1886 | Melissa Nece | Real science is religiously neutral. Evolution is the only SCIENTIFIC theory explaining the development of life on earth. Adopt the standards! |

| 1888 | susan ellor | To deny this aspect of education is to damn florida's young students with a disadvantaged knowledge-base. Evolution has been proven without any shadow of a doubt (guided or otherwise - it matters not). Schools Must teach fact... suggestion is optional. |

| 1892 | Jennifer Zelik | Please don't tell me they are still teaching that Adam only has 11 ribs as when I was in school. |

| 1895 | Jonathan Bostic | University of Florida,

| 1896 | betty davis miller | |
| 1897 | Kent Miller | |
| 1898 | Tom Baird | Keep religious dogma out of the science classroom! The fact that there is even a debate about if or how evolution is included in the new science standards just points out what a poor state of science literacy exists among the general public. Florida needs to increase its emphasis on providing a world class science education for all it's students. These new Standards are a step in that direction. |
| 1899 | Kenneth M. Marinetti | Do not allow Florida to fall behind in science and math.
Please consider the future economy and our future scientists who must work and compete to enable Florida to attract high tech companies and jobs to our state. |
| 1900 | Pauline Stone | We're watching you! Again, Florida will be the laughing stock of the nation. Don't forget RECOUNT! You people are so much fun to laugh at!!!
Biotech companies - come to New York - we have EVOLVED!
Adopt the new standards already! |
