Name: Anonymous on Mar 29, 2009Comments: i think what the UE is doing to tiny Malta is disgracefull, we maltese have nothing less as EU citizens then the the ones from other countries, just because we have a goverment who does not stand up to its promises does not make us second class. I am not a hunter but the way the hunters are treated like criminals, if there was an agreement before the referendum the promises should be kept or the Ue is made up of a pack of lies just like they did to finland. But the irony is that the Big countries can do what the like take the UK hunting is allowed all year round, the maltese hunters cannot hunt in Malta but they can go hunt in the UK all year round INCREDIBLEFlag

Name: Raymond Sammut on Mar 29, 2009Comments: In pre-accession days when Malta was still preparing to join the EU, Dr Guido Demarco then president of Malta, remarked that the hunting issue presented a major hurdle to the joining process. The Dr Eddie Fenech Adami government got over that by stating that derogations were reached with the EU. He personally stuck out his neck, twice sending signed guarantees to all those involved, of what to expect after joining! Now that the tables have turned on the hunting fraternity, the new, year old PN headed by Dr Lawrence Gonzi is not lifting a finger to get things righted. Quite the opposite, he does not wish to cause any ripples in the Brussels’ pond! What about the main pre-accession slogan that Malta would have a greater say when inside the EU Sure the hunting fraternity is a minority, but then so is Malta compared to the giants in the group! Are we to be the example for the rest, as some are more equals than others Now that the Maastricht Treaty has been signed, no questions asked, Malta cannot veto any decision or ever head the EU as president! It seems as this greater say is being eroded and is fizzling altogether out of the window!Flag
