Greek Life is a great thing to have at any given university. It raises money for the needy, helps students with academics, and it molds future leaders. These are just a few of the many benefits of Greek Life. As of recently, men's Greek life at The University of Southern Mississippi has become corrupt and seen a steady decline. For the last year or so, the IFC has been underneath the guidance of Charles Childress. Since the beginning of his reign there has been a decrease in money raised for philanthropies, a decrease in the all fraternity GPA average, and a decrease in nearly every chapters membership, except for his home chapter, which has seen steady growth. In addition, the informal recruitment process has been unfair. Organizations that he favors are getting recruitment lists way before other organizations, some not even at all. This is a call for change, a petition for the resignation of Charles Childress as adviser for the IFC. For the sake of fairness and equality, an adviser that is non-affiliated with a chapter at The University of Southern Mississippi needs to be his replacement. Quit sitting around waiting for change to come, it will only get worse. You must be the change you wish to see in the world and here is your chance. Together we can improve Greek Life at Southern Miss and restore equality to the IFC.
