Name: Robin Lorber on Mar 4, 2010ZIP code: 30269Comments: We read Ralph's op. ed. in the Fayette Citizen and totally agree. We have been saying for years that the FCBOE is too top heavy and that they seem to think there is an endless stream of money at their disposal! They have always (since we moved here in the early 1980's) had a disconnect with development and the need of classrooms. First, they were too slow to react and built schools in the wrong place (Sandy Creek) but when development slowed, they continued to project student numbers as though the county was booming.Flag

There are also many administrators involved in special education - 10 I believe. All making over 100,000. These are the same people who brag about our 21st century classrooms but then tell us they can't afford to purchase replacement bulbs for our projectors.Flag

Name: Rob Learnard on Mar 9, 2010ZIP code: 30269Comments: #2 - I don't know what the salary range is for the current asst supt but I assume they will always need to be lower than capped $129k? Without knowing the salaries, I am not sure if a 20% reduction accomplishes this. #3 - Sounds good, but I don't understand how the admin is set-up enough to dictate how many people they need to effectively manage the $180 Million budget and staff. I think it more effective to require someone from the outside to analyze how many positions are really required to run this organization (hopefully the new spt is capable) # 4 - I believe that the number of assistant principals needs to be evaluated at each school and not be a blanket pronouncement.Flag
