Do you ever remember reading "We the people in order to form a more perfect union..." Well we the people are tired of this. No more filibuster, no more avoiding the issues by trying to direct our attention somewhere else. Congress has failed these past years in creating a budget the United States could and should live by. You, the very people we have voted for, to protect our interests at the national level, have failed. We are tired of the blame game, of the finger pointing and the he said/she said tactics. We want and crave real leadership. People who will come together and work with each other to pass budgets and laws to help us, the general public, not make it worse for us. We have heard and seen this widening gap between the upper, middle and lower classes in the United States over the past decade. Haven't you asked yourself why? Our spending limits were put in place years ago to control spending by the federal government. Don't you think we should abide by those rules? Instead of making our, the general public, job harder to keep up with the debt this country is creating for itself. We need to curtail some spending. Let the free market economy work itself out. Instead of trying to manipulate it. We should be concentrating on more important issues at the federal level. A budget should be the easiest item to pass. "How much did we take in on taxes?" "This is the amount we have to spend." Why is it so hard to come up with a balanced budget? If congress is unable to fix our problems why should you be there representing us? You are there to represent us. Not toe the line with either the Republican, Democratic or whomever party. In my personal opinion I believe the following changes should be made to correct the Senate and the House, which we know is one major part of the nation's problems. 1. Term limits for the House of Representatives and the Senate 2. A balanced budget is required 2 months after the first work day of the year. 3. Your yearly pay is tied to the budget. No budget, no pay. You wanted to work for the people, this will define who you really work for. 4. No more life pay for Congress men and women after exiting office. 5. Subject to the same laws as "normal" citizens. 6. No supplemental pay while in an elected position. This includes ALL monies and paid for goods bought by someone else, or ANY other entity. You must pay for yourself and your family. In closing, I know its hard to run a government. Everyone has so many different opinions and views. However, when the bulk of the country holds a general disdain for almost every elected official, time has come for major change. We the people deserve better representation than what you are capable of. Maybe take a hint from the military. A NCO is required to memorize the following line, “…All soldiers are entitled to outstanding leadership, I will provide that leadership…”
