Hi both
Apologies for the delay in sending you a build. We've been doing a
lot of work on our video architecture, and it has taken us a little
longer than expected to close out all the regression issues this has
caused. We do now have a version of our app which has resolved the
rotation issues on the A1. The zoom issue still persists, though we
think we might also have a fix for that which we'll try out. I hope
to have a build I can send you tomorrow to confirm that what we've
done so far works well on your devices, and I would welcome your
feedback. Obviously we also have to trust that you will not
distribute the build anywhere, since it is a pre-release version.
I'll be back in touch shortly - thanks for your patience,
Dan

I received today an e-mail and phonecall by Lenovo:
"Our Senior Product Engineers are investigating this issue and I let you
know as soon as I receive an update or resolution."
Fine to hear they are working on that.So lets hope for progress.

Lenovo Germany sent me a modified skype version. Its the XDA Version:signedcom.skype.raider_2.1.0.46.apksadly the problem could only be fixed for some minutes.Skype uses the correct camera resolution of 640x480 only for some minutes. After this it fallsback to 320x240 and the picture is again cropped and zoomed. So far this is not a solution yet. And its disappointing to see Lenovo uses an inoffical Skype modification for solving that problem.

Front camera of Lenovo A1 device not working correctly. Picture is flipped or extremely zoomed. In Skype and Google talk. Problem 6 Months old.FOR LENOVO: Dear Sir or madam,I'm a user of the Lenovo A1 tablet pc. As presented in your tech specs of the Lenovo A1 it contains a front and back camera. "INTEGRATED CAMERA:3.0 MP camera. Front camera for video chat". There is also a pre-installed Google Talk version, which looks like its been able to use this front camera.Sadly the webcam picture with Google talk is with the front camera zoomed, so its not possible to use the camera and video chat properly with this image. The same effect is with the Android application Skype. We bought the Lenovo A1 for our business to communicate specially by Skype over WLAN. Unfortunately its also not possible to use the front camera properly as well. So the video chat functions are not working. This problem is known for over 6 months. I noticed a growing number of unsatisfied customers in the Lenovo...

in Skype-Forum by dan200sxHi folks Lenovo responded yesterday, and have given us the name of an engineer on their side to speak with. I've passed this on to our video team, and will let you know the outcome. In the meantime, have you tried the new 'rotate' feature which we added in the v2.8 release? This allows you to rotate the preview window to correct orientation, and then save this setting for future video calls. If you don't see the option when you start the app, try clearing data in Android settings menu, then logging in again. We implemented this to try and solve the majority of rotation issues we see across various OEMs. Not a perfect solution, but at least it should get things working for you while we discuss the fix with Lenovo. Let me know how you get on,DanSource: http://community.skype.com/t5/Android/Ideapad-A1-meets-reqs-Why-no-video/m-p/711163#M12742
