Name: George Campbell on Jul 11, 2007Comments: The principles contained within Scouting for Boys are still relevant today. How ironic that in an area that desperately needs a vibrant Scout Group to challenge and stretch todays young people, those charged with growing the movement have decided to close one of the oldest groups in the world. What, I wonder, are the real reasons for this decisionFlag

Name: Andy Morris on Jul 11, 2007Comments: I enjoyed many happy years with the 2nd Croydon and am outraged that this proposed closure may deny the young people of Crystal Palace the wonderful opportunities and experiences that scouting gave me. STOP THIS CLOSURE!Flag

Name: ALAN COOLING on Sep 5, 2007Comments: We should be proud of the 2nd Croydon (1st Crystal Palace) Scout group - not trying to close it down and therefore forget all about it - shame on those who are trying to do just this! It should be kept going no matter what it takes,!Flag

Name: Adam Wood on Sep 14, 2007Comments: My parents met through the 2nd Croydon. My uncle was the Group Scout Leader (John Clarke), as well as the scout leader. My Dad (Ron Wood) was the venture scout leader at the time. My other uncle (Keith Neiles) was the assistant scout leader and my mum (Jane Wood (nee Neiles)) assistant venture scout leader. I have been through scouting in the West Wickham \ Beckenham South district. My family have very strong connections with it, it would be very sad to see it close if there is still a need for a group in the area.Flag

Name: George Campbell on Sep 18, 2007Comments: Given the number of Groups that have been closed in recent years, the opportunities for young people to be involved in Scouting in this part of the world is limited. Closing this Group will reduce that limited opportunity to virtually nil. Scouting's most important members are the young people. To close this group would be against the very core beliefs of the Scouting movement.Flag

As an aside - if anyone wishes to contact me John & Linda Clarke and Ron & Carol Wood have my e-mail address.Flag
